Half Marathons 2023 - 2024

Running a good half marathon time is something every runner has on their 'To Do' list. Whether it’s a trail race or a road race, a 13.1 mile half marathon is the natural next step up from 10k, and one of the classic benchmarks to test yourself against. It's long enough to be a true test of fitness, stamina, pacing, form and mental strength but short enough to be within reach of anyone willing to train consistently for a couple of months.

Our database contains everything from small, locally organised half marathons to one of the biggest races on the planet - The Great North Run - which attracts over 50,000 runners and was the first mass participation event on the planet to reach 1 million cumulative participants. The findarace calendar lists over 350 half marathons every year all over the UK and beyond. So whether you’re after a low-key local race or the excitement of a major event, check out our comprehensive 2022 - 2023 calendar below and use the “Refine” button above to fine-tune your search.

Half Marathon FAQs

How long is a half marathon?

Half marathon races are 13.1 miles or 21 kilometres, exactly half the distance of a full 26.2 miles or 42.2 km Marathon race. The average finishing time for a half in the UK is around 2:00 hours with more seasoned runners often pushing for 1 hour 30 minutes or less. This makes half marathons the perfect choice for runners looking to step up to a new challenge from 10k races and an important milestone for those on their way to running a full marathon.

Which Half Marathon Races Should I Try?

With over 500 half marathon events every year in the UK, it can be hard to know which race to go for. At findarace we’ve curated the very best events of 2022, but if you need a little help choosing here are some of our top picks for the next few months.

With a festival finish including live music, the Richmond Runfest Half is an ideal choice for your race calendar.

Run Solihull Half Marathon - Looking to try a new race this Summer? This 14th August event is perfect for west midlands runners looking for a fast finish. This all closed road and tarmac run starting and finishing in Solihull town centre offers strong PB potential along with countryside sections featuring the route’s key inclines and declines.

Running Grand Prix Oulton Park - Taking place at the historic Oulton Park track on August 7th, this 13.1 miler offers great personal best potential on smooth tarmac and is ideal for runners of all abilities. With a rating of 4.8 from the findarace community, this well-regarded run delivers an amazing on the day atmosphere.
