Essar Chester Half Marathon
Organiser's Description
The Essar Chester Half Marathon is one of the UK’s longest established and most highly regarded half marathons. This chip timed, fast and largely flat race will be run entirely on closed roads.
We have a new route for 2020 which offers one of the flattest routes in many years, with a spectacular city centre finish. You will run past some of Chester's historic landmarks at the very start of the race too. The route starts at Chester Racecourse and loops around the city before heading out into the countryside on Parkgate Road. Runners will weave through the villages of Mollington, Lea by Backford & Saughall before returning to the city for the finish outside the Town Hall and Cathedral with cheering crowds of welcoming spectators a plenty.
All finishers will receive a technical T-shirt, bespoke medal and a top quality goody bag.

The health, safety and welfare of our runners, volunteers, staff, contractors, stakeholders, the public and local community remains our priority.
We will continue to follow the advice and current guidelines provided by our local council and the governing bodies for our sport. This is a highly dynamic situation and every aspect of our race is under review, we will continually adapt and adjust our event plans as appropriate. Full details of the measures required to enable us to host Covid secure events and to ensure the safety of everyone involved, will be confirmed closer to race day. Please rest assured we are continually working behind the scenes with stakeholders and leading crowd management specialists to deliver a safe and amazing experience for our runners in 2021.
If, due to a local lockdown, quarantine, self-isolation or another reason you are not able to attend an event, providing you retain a valid entry to the event, you may run a virtual race of at least the race distance on, before or up to four weeks after race day. Please contact info@activeleisureevents.co.uk if you plan to run an event(s) virtually, stating in the subject line I’D LIKE TO RUN (INSERT EVENT NAME) VIRTUALLY. We will then provide you with more details on how to submit your virtual race data.
This will still enable you to complete the race and qualify for the 2021 Chester Triple medal.
