Organiser's Description
The park opened in 1858 and is steeped in history. It occupies land formerly known as Battersea Fields which was used to grow lavender and asparagus. It was also known as a popular spot for duelling, The Duke of Wellington, and the Earl of Winchilsea famously met here for pistols-at-dawn. But this was hundreds of years ago; when you hear the starter pistol on the day all you'll need to worry about is racing to the finish line!
Not unfamiliar with sporting events, the first football match played under Football Association rules took place at Battersea Park 1864. Soak up the competitive atmosphere and go for your best time! Take in the park's gold and red canopy overhead and spot the London Peace Pagoda and famous sculptures fly by as you chase down your PB on the flat, smooth paths of the park.
Once you've sprinted across the finish line and collected your special souvenir medal, drop in at the Putt in the Park Cafe, or the Pear Tree Cafe by the lake, for some post-run refreshments
