Organiser's Description

The Wales Triathlon, winner of the 220 triathlon awards for best triathlon, will host Challenge Wales 2024 in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. Beginning in Fishguard Bay, the sheltered out and back swim course will consist of 2 laps. Followed by athletes heading on a 2 lap course out to St David’s (the UK’s smallest city!) on the cycle route, before reaching transition to begin the paved 4-lap coastal run course, ending with the famous Activity Wales Events red carpet finish.

Course Details

The Wales Triathlon, winner of the 220 triathlon awards for best triathlon, will host Challenge Wales 2024 in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire.

The course will be is fairly fast.

The swim course is a very sheltered out and back swim.

The Bike course is a 2 lap closed road out and back to St Davids.


The run course has two real hills and the rest is very fast and flat.

FAQs

  • Do I have to wear a wetsuit?

    Yes, this is mandatory for all of our events and must cover the torso & thighs. It must NOT cover the hands and feet.

  • Can I wear my own swim hat?

    If you wish to wear two swim hats that is fine but the issued swim hat MUST be worn on top.

  • What stroke can I use?

    Although BTF rules have now allowed backstroke we will not allow you to do this stroke. Front facing strokes only.

  • Can I use Tri Bars (aerobars)?

    Yes Tri Bars are allowed.

  • Can I wear headphones?

    No, we discourage anyone wearing headphones during the race.

  • Is there a cut off?

    Yes, please refer to the itinerary page for all the cut off times

ROAD CLOSURES ANNOUNCED FOR CHALLENGE WALES
We are thrilled to announce that Challenge Wales has been given the green light for road closures for the event taking place in June in Fishguard.

We are delighted about being granted road closures for the bike leg of Challenge Wales, as it means our athletes can benefit from a more efficient ride on the bike course to St David's and back. Road closures help us to provide optimal safety to athletes and enhance their experience throughout their race.

The Closure Times will be 1pm - 6pm.
