Organiser's Description

Starting out from Lingfield Racecourse, we head South East into the characteristic mosaic of medieval manors, farms and woodlands that make the High Weald AONB what it is. Be sure of some spectacular scenery and riding as you roll along within this pristine landscape for the majority of your ride, with a brief stint in the neighbouring Surrey Hills.

At Hartfield, our 22 mile short ride turns North for a more gentle day in the saddle. Those keen to ramp up the mileage will continue East for a short time, then our 44 mile standard route veers North, while our epic 70 mile ride travels further East, with a series of short climbs to keep you working. Leave enough in the tank to re-join standard riders and tackle the climb out from Groomsbridge. You’ll pedal as far as Bough Beech Reservoir, re-join the short course riders at Cowden Cross station, then turn West towards home at Lingfield Racecourse.

This late-season sportive is a chance to make a difference for our charity partner, Alzheimer's Research UK.

Route mileage: 22-miles, 44-miles, 70-miles

A great day (I only got lost once). A really well organised event, with plenty of parking, decent facilities, plenty of signage - unless, of course, you decide to follow a cyclist who has missed a turn! - and a varied and appropriately challenging route. The feeding stops were well-spaced and well-stocked and the 'broom wagon' was quick to respond to those cyclists whose bikes decided that enough was enough. For someone unfamiliar with the area, the course was superb, with a real mix of hills, country lanes and decent surfaces. Thoroughly enjoyable... and all in the name of a great cause.
