The Goldrush Gravel Bike Sportive is the epic gravel bike adventure you’ve been searching for.

Starting at Duncombe Park Estate in Helmsley, you’ll head off into the North York Moors along gorgeous gravel bike trails, with stunning views, steep climbs and technical descents.

You’ll be set off in small groups with the exact time to be agreed in advance. There’s two options of routes, a mid distance route which will be around 25 miles and a longer option of 50-60 miles.

What's Included

Family, Friends and Supporters – We actively encourage spectators to come along to cheer and enjoy the event environment. Perhaps you want to come along and get a feel for what it’s like to participate.

Mechanical Support – Planet X Bike Technicians will be available to provide essential mechanical support. Don’t expect them to carry out a full service; this is for small last, minute basic support. Please note, there may be a charge for some parts, you will be asked in advance before a repair is made.

D.I.Y Pit Station – there will be several bike stands, some basic tools, a track pump etc for competitors to use. Once registered, participants will be able to access these facilities.

Car Parking – there is ample parking facilities on-site, please follow instructions and speed limits on site.

Toilets – there are toilets on-site.

Medical and emergency – there will be emergency medical personnel in attendance. For minor bumps and scratches, we suggest you bring along a personal first aid kit.

Refreshments, food and drinks – refreshments and snacks will be available with strategically placed feed stations.

Bike Wash – you’ll be able to wash your bike post-event, using Jobsworth cleaning products

Location

One of Yorkshire’s finest historic houses and estates, and home to the Duncombe family.

Located in Helmsley in the North York Moors National Park, the estate boasts over 450 acres of spectacular gardens, parklands and nature reserve.

Course Details

Epic gravel and road route that will take you up, down and across the North York Moors. The ride will feature some challenging climbs, thrilling descents, and stunning views from the top.

The Goldrush will challenge your hill-climbing as well as your bike-handling ability, and will be a true test of mental strength.

FAQs

  • What happens once I've entered?

    Once you've entered one of our events, you will receive an email confirming your entry with some general information. In the days leading up to the event, you will receive your event notes as well as the route GPX file. All the information you will need to know about the event will be within those race notes, from start times and your race number to registration and course logistics.

  • What type of bike should I ride?

    A gravel or a mountain bike will be ideal for the route, you would benefit from thicker tyres (at least 38mm). E-Bikes are welcome on the route.

  • What happens if I have a technical issue with my bike?

    We’ll have a team of bike mechanics from Planet X at the start/finish area and at various points along the route. please bring various spares with you so you can be as self-sufficient in case anything happens. Your bike should be in good working order – the mechanics can only help with small issues and not a full bike service.

  • What do I need to bring on the day?

    Helmet. First Aid kit – including a foil blanket or emergency bivi bag. Bike Repair Essentials Waterproof Jacket Appropriate Clothing for the conditions on the day Water and Nutrition Mobile Phone – with the race directors number in it (won’t be available until the event briefing)

  • When will I receive the GPX file?

    Our event team will ride the route in the week leading up to the event to check for any issues with the route, and you’ll receive the GPX files in the week leading up to the event.

  • What is the cancellation and transfer policy?

    Cancellation and Transfer Policy. The entry fee is non-refundable – but we understand that you may need to withdraw or transfer your entry. Our transfer and withdrawal policy is strictly adhered to, and no exceptions are made for illness, injury or pregnancy. Please provide your full name, the event entered and order number. Entry Fees are non-refundable. Notification over 30 days before the event date – 100% of your entry fee will be issued via a credit note valid for 2 years. Notification over 10 days before the event date – 50% of your entry fee will be issued via credit note valid for 2 years. Notification 10 days and less before the event date – we operate a strict no refund or transfer policy. If a participant withdraws from an event and uses a credit note as payment, a credit will only be reimbursed to the original use-by date. The organisers reserve the right to alter the format of an event without prior notice should the need arise.
