RUNNING GRAND PRIX AT GOODWOOD MOTOR CIRCUIT DUATHLON – SUNDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2023!

The Goodwood Duathlon allows you to experience this classic motor circuit in a way like no other. Run-bike-run your way around the historic venue at Goodwood Motor Circuit on Sunday 17th September 2023.
The course is a guaranteed traffic-free, smooth surface route offering athletes a fast ride and speedy run – perfect for beginners and seasoned athletes alike!

There will be a Sprint event over 3.8km, 19km and 3.8km and a Standard event over 7.6km, 38km and 3.8k. Each discipline will be accurately marked out with distance flags and we will have plenty of helpers to keep you on track and to encourage you all the way to the finish.

At the world-famous Goodwood Motor Circuit, home to the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival, you will enjoy the thrill of racing your way to a new chip timed personal best on this smooth traffic free tarmac motor racing circuit which includes:

Located at the foot of the Sussex Downs, the track is the only classic circuit in the world to remain entirely in its original form. Goodwood Motor Circuit originally opened its gates to the public in September 1948, to host Britain’s very first post-war motor race meeting at a permanent venue.

Standard: 7.6km (2 laps)/38km (10 laps)/3.8km (1 lap)

The day licence for Non-BTF members is included in the entry price. If you are a BTF Member, please ensure that you complete your licence number accurately during the registration process. All licence numbers will be validated by BTF before the event and any participants with an invalid BTF licence number will be asked to show an online copy at registration.

Course Details

The entire course is inside the Goodwood Motor Circuit on the roads.

Each mile will be accurately marked out and we have plenty of helpers to keep you quite literally on track and encourage you on your way to that chequered flag finish.

The race involves laps around the circuit, the course is flat and quick.

How to Get There

Goodwood is located just outside Chichester, only 60 miles from London, and 30 miles from Brighton and Southampton.

BY ROAD

From London

Follow the A3 (Junction 10 on the M25) south towards Guildford. About 3 miles past Guildford, at the Milford turning, take the A283 to Petworth, then the A285 to Chichester for about 6 miles.

From the West

Follow the A27 to Chichester. At Chichester, stay on the A27 bypass/ring road. After the only set of traffic lights, take the second exit at the next roundabout signposted Goodwood. At the next roundabout take the second exit.

200 yards after the Goodwood Motor Circuit & Aerodrome entrance, straight over at the roundabout, (brown signs for Goodwood House). Entrance to House is on the right.

BY RAIL

Rail services

There is a regular service from London Victoria to Chichester (1hour 40 minutes), plus the coastal service from Brighton and Portsmouth. Buses or taxis are available at Chichester Station.

Age Restrictions
The minimum age for the Sprint Distance is 15 years old. The minimum age for the Standard Distance is 17 years old.

Audio Devices
Audio devices are not permitted during the event. At no point should an athlete wear headphones, headsets or earphones.

How does a transition area work?
You cannot take your cycle out of the transition area without your race number and corresponding cycle sticker.
You must put on your helmet first before you touch your bike.
There is no cycling allowed in transition, and you must not mount or dismount your bike until you have reached the transition line.

What kind of bike can I ride?
You can use any bike that is roadworthy, however you cannot use electric bikes or tandems.

Will there be drink/fuel stations on route?
There will be a water station on each lap. Athletes are also welcome to set up their own fuel station on the side of the track.

Helmets
Competitors must wear an approved cycling safety helmet of ANSI Z90.4, SNELL B90, EN 1078 or an equivalent national standard..

Spectators
Our event is spectator friendly and open for family and friends to enjoy the atmosphere and cheer on duathletes.

Pets
Pets are allowed in the event village, however they must remain on a lead at all times.
