Brangwyn Hall, Swansea SA1 4PE

Sun 23rd June 2019

Organiser's Description

A flat, fast and scenic route "from the city to the sea", starting and finishing in Swansea city centre. 2019 sees the return of this multi award winning event, voted the UK’s best half marathon 2017 and 2018, and Wales’ biggest and best Summer half, with miles of stunning coastline, beautiful views and fantastic crowd support.

You will pass Swansea Castle, still standing from 1106, enjoy stunning views of Swansea Bay, run along the flat, purpose-built cycle/walkway alongside sandy beaches, and on the return leg, the promenade will guide you towards Swansea Marina, and eventually across the Millennium Bridge, to the finish. Miles of smiles and a perfect pb opportunity! The JCP Swansea Half Marathon is officially the UK's best half marathon!

Good South Wales Event. Well organised, friendly popular race event. Good route and lovely to run back along the coastline. Pathways were a little narrow in the second half of the course causing some bottle necks, but overall a good day out!

Plenty of Pacers. Brilliant event with plenty of pacers, I smashed my PB and stayed around the two 1:45 pacers, there were also 1:40 and 1:50 within view. Very flat course with plenty of drinks stations and the support was fantastic

Good but not great. First time at this one. Details mailed out well in advance. Website seemed unresponsive close to event. Plenty of toilets at start. Baggage collection speedy. Quick to clear all runners over the line. Route is flat and enjoyable. Finish area good but not overly full of atmosphere or stalls. Overall well organised but nothing special - Llanelli half and Newport marathon both had more buzz at the finish.
