Set against the stunning backdrop of Newcastle upon Tyne, this flat and fast race route will take participants on an out-and-back journey along the picturesque Newcastle Quayside. Runners will enjoy iconic views of the Tyne Bridge, Gateshead Millennium Bridge, and the vibrant arts scene at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, culminating in a thrilling finish at the Millennium Bridge.
With over 3,000 runners expected, the atmosphere will be electric as both seasoned athletes and beginners come together for an unforgettable experience. The race features two start times, kicking off with the sub-40 minute A race at 9:00 am, followed by the B race at 9:20 am. Each participant will receive a unique themed medal, free race photos, and chip-timed results, ensuring that every runner leaves with lasting memories. Join us for the Newcastle 10k on Saturday 23rd January 2027 Newcastle 10k is back this year, bigger, better, and bolder than before — proudly delivered in partnership with Gateshead Harriers.
With full road closures and over 3,000 runners expected, this event creates a brilliant atmosphere along one of the North East’s most iconic routes. The race follow a stunning out-and-back route along the Newcastle Quayside, passing beneath the Swing Bridge, High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge and Redheugh Bridge. Runners enjoy iconic views throughout, including the world-famous Tyne Bridge, the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, and the Glasshouse and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, before finishing with a spectacular backdrop of the Millennium Bridge. The route is flat, fast and perfect for PBs, while remaining fully accessible for beginners looking for an unforgettable race experience.
Newcastle 10 also forms part of our Top Flight Race Series, attracting some of the UK’s leading athletes and creating a fantastic racing spectacle.

My first ever race. Brilliantly organised event, great fast route. Nice medal and snacks after, I'd definitely do it again
