Get ready for a sweet adventure at the Phoenix Manchester Cakeathon, taking place on Saturday, January 16, 2027, in the vibrant locale of Manchester, Lancashire! Whether you're a seasoned runner or a casual walker, this event welcomes all abilities to enjoy the beautiful riverside towpath along the River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park.
Participants can choose to complete as many laps as they desire within a 7-hour time frame, with the minimum distance being just one lap. Each entrant will receive a fabulous bespoke medal and a slice of cake or cookie to take home, plus a selection of sweet goodies at the well-stocked aid station, featuring treats from Finch Bakery's famous cake van! The day kicks off with registration at 7:30 AM, and the fun begins from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. So gather your friends, lace up your running shoes, and join us for a day filled with running, laughter, and, of course, cake! Don't miss out on this joyous celebration of fitness and flavor!

Cakeathon - ie Let them eat cake!
Calling all cake lovers - your entry includes a fabulous medal and a slice of cake/cookie to takeaway too! There will be a selection of sweet treats at the aid station as well.
We've invited Finch Bakery who will be there with their cake van! You don't want to miss out on this one, trust us - because we have tasted their goodies, and they're simply amazing.
This is one of our timed events where you choose and complete as many, or as few, laps as you like along the beautiful River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park.
We welcome all abilities of runners, walkers, joggers, hikers, Jeffers - complete one lap and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see ow far you can get in the full 7 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal. Run a lap and see how you feel on the day and keep on going if it feels right.
Race brief: A race brief is sent a week before the event which is mandatory reading for all participants.

Race Distance:
Minimum distance is one lap or as far as you can go in 7 hours.
Terrain:
Off road trail, the terrain is riverside towpath.
Aid station: We have a well-stocked vegetarian aid station all day, with many vegan items as well as gluten free/free from items.
For example: bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, usually some form of cake, squash, full sugar cola, etc.
Allergies: If you have severe and life threatening allergies, please bring your own food, as we cannot guarantee there will be no cross-contamination.
Profile:
The overall course has very little elevation gain / loss making this a flat and fast route.
Toilets and changing rooms available at Race HQ.
Parking available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come, first serve basis.
Additional Parking for upto 100 cars is available across the river at Sale Water Park (15min walk from the start).
There is also additional public and paid parking around Chorlton Water Park.
