5K

The Torchlight Trail follows the same run route as the Sandman Sprint Triathlon, only this time it's by head torch light! The run takes place on the rugged trails of Newborough Forest. Running through the trees and down along the sand dunes is both wonderful and gruelling. The last 1.5km is almost entirely on sand but it only makes the accomplishment all the more rewarding.

You must be at least 15 years old to take part in this race.

Registration for the Torchlight Trail will take place before the event on Saturday evening - we will confirm specific times in your Final Instructions, which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to the race.

Registration is usually located in the main Beach car park in Newborough Forest, LL61 6SG.

This race usually starts at 20:00 though this is subject to change. We will confirm the race start time in your Final Instructions, which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to the race.

The start line is usually located in the main Beach car park in Newborough Forest, LL61 6SG.

In the interest of athlete safety and the safety of our volunteers on the course there will be strict cut off times in place. A confirmation of specific cut off times will be detailed in your Final Instructions which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to your race.

The finish line timing will stop 2 hours after the start of the race.

You must wear a sufficiently charged head torch at all times for the duration of the run. Runners without a head torch will not be permitted to race.
We would advise that you wear trail shoes with good aggressive grip.
More information will be detailed in the Final Instructions, which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to the race.

We hold a prize giving ceremony after the racing, approximate timings will be detailed in the Final Instructions however it is a good idea to listen out for any updates that come in over the tannoy. Sometimes the ceremony may be delayed and we wouldn't want you to miss out. We don't send out prizes after the event, so make sure you attend the ceremony and receive your big Welsh cheer!

Prize categories for the Torchlight Trail 5k are (for both men and women)

Overall: Top 3

Running through the trees and down along the sand dunes is both wonderful and gruelling. The last 1.5km is almost entirely on sand but it only makes the accomplishment all the more rewarding. 5k runners tackle it once, 10km runners take it on twice!
