Event summary
The Shropshire Way Ultra, organised by Shropshire Way Ultra, is set to take place on Saturday 27th April 2019 in Ellesmere, Shropshire. This exciting event will see participants start and finish on the picturesque banks of The Mere, before embarking on a challenging 50 mile race. Runners will follow the shoreline, complete a 7 mile loop, and then head South-West to Llanymynech, offering stunning views of the Shropshire countryside along the way. The race will then loop back North to Chirk Bank, before returning to Ellesmere via the Shropshire Union Canal towpath. Participants will be rewarded with a medal and finisher's t-shirt upon completion of this scenic and exhilarating ultra-marathon.
Organiser's Description
The inaugural Shropshire Way Ultra will and start and finish on the banks of The Mere, with runners initially following the shoreline, before heading away to complete a 7 mile loop. The longest leg of this 50 mile race will then take them South-West to Llanymynech, along the lovely Shropshire Union Canal towpath, then North to the rolling hills and some stunning vistas of the Shropshire countryside. Descending to Chirk Bank, runners will once again pick up the Shropshire Union Canal for the final run in to Ellesmere, where they will be presented with their medal and finisher's t-shirt.
