The Castle Run Series - Castle Howard
15% DISCOUNT APPLIED TO ALL 2021 RACES
Part of the weekend Castle Howard Triathlon Series, The Castle Howard Run in July promises to be a memorable run on the southern border of the North York Moors.
The rapturous reception afforded to previous Castle Howard Triathlons has led to this weekend event to be known as the sporting event of the North!
The spectacular run course takes runners through the undulating Howardian Hills and boasts a finish that tops everything off in style – right in front of the main doors of the house.
In light of the recent government announcement (Monday 22 Feb), we are very encouraged to see a return to organised outdoor sport from March 29. All our 2021 events will fall in line with National Governing Body guidance and we are therefore very confident that we will be able to deliver a safe and successful season of mass participation events. We look forward to kicking off our season with the Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon and Multi-Sport Festival on June 19th/20th.

All competitors in all races will receive a medal on completion of their race.
Each weekend will feature live music and entertainment, retail outlets and concessions, and a variety of locally-sourced foods and refreshments for competitors and spectators alike.
Competitors’ supporters will pay a fee for entry to this event.
We organised a hugely successful socially distanced event at Hever Castle in September 2020 for over 4000 participants and their supporters. This has given us, the Industry but most importantly our participants, the confidence to return to racing in 202!.
We want to reassure all participants that we’ll continue to work closely with Government, governing bodies, venues and suppliers to ensure that our 2021 events are run in accordance with current health and safety guidance.
Our increased health and safety measures cover 5 key principles of education: touch point reduction, density reduction, athlete self-reliance and enhanced hygiene.
Should we be required to put on a socially distanced event, participants will still get the full race experience but with individual rolling starts, 1 competitor every 10 seconds (sometimes greater), restricted time on site either side of your race and possible limit on spectators per athlete only.
We will prepare venue specific documents to send to all participants ahead of the event. These will include details on how to prepare pre-event, arrival timings and movements, swim, cycle, run, festival village and exit.
Castle Howard is located just 15 miles North East of York, just off the A64 in the direction of Malton and Scarborough.
From the North: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs.
From the South: Take the A1M to Junction 45 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue past York and eventually you will pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard.
The estate will be marked where spectators can watch and position themselves around the course.
The Castle Howard 10K follows the same route as the Half Marathon but only requires the participants to complete one loop. 10K is achieved when the Finish Line is crossed in front of the Castle itself.
The Half Marathon and Marathon will see competitors undertake laps of a spectator friendly almost entirely off road 10.5K circuit. Starting on the North Lawn, a few yards from the main entrance to the castle, competitors initially head downhill towards the Boathouse and Lake before circumnavigating the enchanting woodland garden of Ray Wood.
The finishing straight, with the castle as a backdrop, leads all runners to the now famous finishing line feast and a well deserved medal!
