Organiser's Description

This event is going to be EPIC and is designed for anyone who received a big fat London Marathon hard luck email! Whilst we expect lots of marathoners, you do not have to complete a marathon to be a finisher at this event. We also have an amazing aid station and a better goody bag than London Marathon too!

All abilities are welcome at our super-inclusive events and we also welcome walkers too.

Distance & Time: This is a 7 hour Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you wish in the 7 hour time limit which starts from the official event start time. It is 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra, we also have a 50km distance available.

Course: The course along a beautiful stretch of the River Thames. It is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. The course is mainly well made paths and tarmac with a very short grass section. Road shoes are suitable all year round.

The regular course is subject to some change near the time of the event depending on our health and safety review of the course and council / land owner final approval.

Medals: As long as you complete one lap, you will be an official finisher and you will receive our fantastic medal.

Goody Bag: Absolutely! You earned the calories after all, so all our finishers get a goody bag. As well as our standard goody bag, with a selection of various goodies to choose from, we also have a fabulous vegan goody bag for our vegan runners.

Distance Pins: We have distance pins available for anyone who runs a half-marathon distance or more. Pins available to collect are our Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km and Ultra pins. You will receive one pin on the ribbon of your medal to reflect your achievement.

Aid Table: We have a fantastic aid table and drinks table at the start / finish of each lap. There is a great selection of savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items at the aid table.

Special Event: If our event is a special event for you, for instance your 50th, 99th, 100th, 200th, 250th etc., half or full marathon then please let us know. You will receive a special running number with your name on it and the date of the event. Also, if it is your birthday run then again please let us know as we have a fabulous special birthday number for you too.

Toilets & Changing Facilities: Toilets are available at the race HQ. The venue has no changing facilities.

Final Instructions / Number pick up: Final race day instructions will be sent out via email 4 days prior to the event with full race day information. Number pick up is on the day at race registration before the start of the event.

Parking: There is a large pay on exit car park at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds, right at the start of the event.

Other Info: There will be somewhere to leave a bag at the start / finish area. However, this is not a secure bag and the items cannot be watched at all times so please do not leave anything valuable.

Places are strictly limited and event registration will close once these are sold out. The minimum age is 12 years old. If you would like to run with someone under 12 years of age, please contact us directly. We have two events running at the same time. The main event is a UKA Permitted event and is for all runners aged 18 or over. In addition, we have a non-UKA event for runners under the age of 18. Runners under the age of 18 will automatically be included in the non-UKA start list and this event will start 1 minute after the main event.

Headphones are allowed.

Our running events are held on public footpaths so we would be grateful if all runners were considerate of other path users.

Small and friendly, nice selection of snacks. The course is short, I ran a 10k which was fine but wouldn’t want to keep going backwards and forwards over the same stretch for longer distances. Great to have a flexible start time, no accurate timing so if that’s an issue then you would need a wearable. Pretty scenery along the river.

Pluses Very well organised and a lovely team of people at Saturn Racing who put on events most weeks. Easy to get to location with good parking. Some lovely countryside alongside the river Thames. Reasonably priced and accessible. Flexible start times so no stress about getting there early/on time/late. Nice medal :-) Negatives Its a small event - only 155 or so running on the day I ran and no crowds or atmosphere to spur you on - unless you bring your own supporters. A lot of people started early and so I found myself running the entire marathon solo which was tough. The "short" course is made up of a series of laps of a little over 5.25k. Most of the route is paved but there were stretches where the ground was a little uneven and muddy because. of the recent rain which made the going harder. Very pleased to have done it but would choose a shorter distance there next time.
