Ultra X Spring Trail Series (25km, 50km, 75km)

The Spring Trail Series by Ultra X takes place on the Serpent Trail, a stunning route that weaves through the greensand hills, river, woodland, and lowland heath

As is always the case with Ultra X events, these are far more than just races, they are awesome experiences. At the start/finish there will be an expo selling merchandise, hot drinks, food and much more. You are actively encouraged to stay on after your race and enjoy the festivities, BBQ and bar.

You will be sent an email inviting you to a call with a member of our team. This is by no means mandatory but it will allow you to ask us any questions you may have regarding the event, training, food, equipment and anything else at all. We’re a really friendly bunch and love getting to know our runners before we meet you in person.

You will be asked if you would like to be added to the competitor Facebook and Whatsapp groups. Of course you do not have to but they are a great way to get to know your fellow competitors before you reach the start line.

25KM
THERE IS NO MANDATORY KIT LIST FOR THE 25KM.
HOWEVER, WE RECOMMEND BRINGING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
1. Trail shoes
2. A durable water repellent and windproof jacket with taped seams
3. Fully charged smartphone (in case of emergency)
4. Enough food and drink to last the race
5. Any 25KM participants that wish to make use of the drinks on offer at Aid
Station 1 must bring a re-usable cup or carry a hydration pack (as per our
Sustainability Policy there will be no plastic cups available)
6. Sun block (minimum strength factor 30)

50KM
THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED BY RACE RULES:
1. Suitable running shoes
2. Suitable running socks
3. Running pack
4. Hydration system with capacity for minimum 1 litre of fluid
5. A durable waterproof jacket with taped seams
6. Buff/scarf or similar to cover your nose and mouth
7. High quality head torch with spare batteries (option here).
8. Whistle (option here).
9. Watch (GPS advised but not mandatory) 10. Personal basic first aid kit, including: cleansing wipes, antiseptic spray or cream, plasters (option here).
11. Survival blanket/bag (option here).
12. Any medication required
13. Minimum of 800 kcal food reserve
14. Fully charged smartphone with GPX route file downloaded

75KM
THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED BY RACE RULES:
1. Suitable running shoes
2. Suitable running socks
3. Running pack
4. Hydration system with capacity for minimum 1 litre of fluid
5. A durable water repellent and windproof jacket with taped seams
6. Buff/scarf or similar to cover your nose and mouth
7. High quality head torch with spare batteries (red light capability recommended)
8. Whistle
9. Watch (GPS advised but not mandatory)
10. Personal basic first aid kit, including: cleansing wipes, antiseptic spray or cream, plasters, survival blanket/bag
11. Any medication required
12. Sun block (minimum strength factor 30, although 50+ is recommended)
13. Minimum of 800 kcal food reserve
14. Fully charged smartphone with GPX

CUT OFFS
We have very relaxed cut-offs. To us, it’s not about what time you get, it’s the adventure you have along the way. On average you will have 2hrs to complete each 10km (in-between checkpoints). Exact race cut-offs can be found in the race information pack.

IF YOU DON’T FINISH
In the scenario that you cannot finish a stage at one of our events, you will be offered entry into the following edition of the race at half price. You will not receive a finishers medal or official result.

Race registration: 10:00-10:30

Cut-off time(s): There are no cut-off times for the 25km event.

Aid station location(s): There will be one aid station located 12km into the route and a water only aid station at 21km.

Drop-outs:You can only drop out at the aid station. When doing so you must tell a race representative and await the race minivan which will collect you and take you back to the start/finish. Please note you may have to wait up to two hours for your pick-up but we will endeavour to get to you as soon as possible.

Help desk open: 08:00-08:30

Cut-off time(s):2200hrs. This is 13 hours to cover 50km, making the event accessible to those wishing to try an ultra distance race for the first time, or for those wishing to walk the whole way. All 50km runners must have departed Aid Station 1 (11km) by 11:51, Aid Station 2 (22km) by 14:43, Aid Station 3 (31km) by 17:03 and Aid Station 4 (44km) by 20:26.

Aid station location(s): There will be four aid stations located at the following distances: 11km, 22km and 31km. Plus a water only station at 44km

Drop-outs:You can only drop out at an aid station. When doing so you must tell a race representative and await the race minivan which will collect you and take you back to the start/finish. Please note you may have to wait up to two hours for your pick-up but we will endeavour to get to you as soon as possible.

Cut-off time(s):2200hrs. This is 15 hours to cover 75km. All 75km runners must have departed Aid Station (11km) by 09:12, Aid Station 2 (26km) by 12:12, Aid Station 3 (36km) by 14:12, Aid Station 4 (50km) by 17:00, Aid Station 5 (59km) by 19:00 and Aid Station 6 (71km) by 21:12.

Aid station location(s): There will be five fully stocked aid stations at the following distances: 11km, 26km, 36km, 50km and 59km. Plus a water only station at 71km.
