faqs

HOW MANY RUNNERS CAN ENTER THE RACE?
Because of the limits on car parking and other facilities at Wilmslow RUFC, we limit the number of runners to 5,000.

WHEN SHOULD I ENTER?
You are strongly advised to enter as early as possible as the races are very popular.

I’VE ENTERED, BUT I HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY NUMBER.
This year we have introduced a change to race number distribution. Instead of posting out the numbers two weeks in advance we are now introducing a number collection service.

If you are a local runner you can collect your number in advance from the Running Bear Shop in Alderley Edge between Friday 11th and Friday 18th of March between 09:30-17:30.. From then on the numbers will be held at the Festival Village.

On Saturday the 19th your number will be available from the Registration Centre at Festival Village. Pick it up anytime between 09:30-17:30.

You can stay on and make use of the Festival facilities whilst you are there.

Then on Sunday your numbers will be available for collection from the Registration Desk at the Festival al from 07:45-09:45.

CAN I TRANSFER MY NUMBER?
You will be able to sort out your transfers yourself online.

WHERE CAN I PARK?
Some parking is available at the Race HQ at Wilmslow RUFC, the cost is £3 please have the correct change ready.

Further parking is available at the Waters Corporation (our race sponsor) on the A538 as you enter Wilmslow from the West. The cost is £3 please have the correct change ready. This car park is approximately half a mile from the race start and quarter of a mile from the race finish.

Parking is allowed on some of the neighbouring streets but please note many streets have parking restrictions on Race Day and there is absolutely no parking in Kings Road which is the road leading to the Rugby Club HQ and where the race starts.

Please note that Kings Road will be closed at 9am or possibly earlier and there will be no access to the race HQ or the Start by vehicle after this time.

I’LL BE GOING TO THE RACE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT. HOW DO I GET TO THE START?
Please see Street Map of Wilmslow which shows the railway station, the main town centre bus stop at Bank Square and the race start at Kings Road. Allow ten to fifteen minutes to walk to the start.

THE RACE STARTS AT 10.00AM BUT WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE AT THE VENUE?
You must arrive at least one hour before the start and earlier if you can. Most of the 4,000+ runners arrive between 9.00-9.45am resulting in them getting stuck in traffic congestion. If you can arrive before 8.30am you will “beat the crush” and experience little or no traffic congestion and you will be able to get one of the best parking spaces. You will arrive at the start line more relaxed and have a better chance of a good race.
