ATW Colchester Friday Night Runs

Incorporating the Essex 5K County Championships 

This event will take place on Friday evening, starting at 5:30pm. This is an ideal venue to chase a fast time as the course is traffic-free, pancake flat and on smooth tarmac. The race will be run under a full UK Athletics License and each course has been officially measured and has a certificate of course accuracy. The race will also be chip timed and results published on Power of 10. 

We will be kicking off the evening at 5:30pm with a 1mile race (including a fun run). If you have entered a race later in the evening you are welcome to join in to encourage family and friends.
At 6pm we'll be starting the 5k races, incorporating the Essex county championships. The night will be finished off with the Women's and Men's elite races. 
Draft timetable is as follws:
5:30pm - 1 mile - Race and Fun Run
6:00pm - 5km - All athletes over 21 mins
7:00pm - 5km - Male athletes 19-21 mins
7:30pm - 5km - Male athletes 17-19 mins
8:00pm - 5km - Women's elite (sub 21 mins)
8:30pm - 5km - Men's elite (sub 17 mins)

With an anticlockwise, traffic free, tarmac course with no sharp bends, and a finish line at the end of the main straight, we are certain that it will be a great night of competitive racing and a whole bunch of proud new PB’s!
The closed road circuit is perfect for all standards, no matter whether you are chasing a lightening quick time, a beginner or a junior (minimum age requirements detailed below).

The Elite 5k Womens and Mens race will make a grand finale for the evening, (sub-21 women and sub-17 men) which we hope everyone will stay for and enjoy cheering on the athletes. 

Complimentary ELITE entries - any athletes who have achieved the following times (Men: sub-14:45 mins; Female: sub-17:15 mins) in the last two years (must be evidenced on Powerof10), please email [email protected] for a FREE entry in the elite race.

Essex County 5k Champs
The chip-timed results from all the 5k races will be merged to produce the Essex County 5k Champs results in the following male and female categories:
Open, V40, V45, V50, V55, V60, V65, V70+ and Teams

To qualify for the Essex Championships you must satisfy all of the following conditions:
- You must be either born in Essex or have lived in Essex for the last 9 months
- You must not have run in a non-Essex County Event or represented another County in the current race year (1st Sep to 31st Aug)
- You must represent your first claim club and wear the official club vest (you can only represent a second claim if your first claim club is non-Essex)
