Discover Barcelona through a magic experience, the Zurich Marató de Barcelona. The course is one of the most attractive in Europe because of the route and the citizens who take the streets during the day to cheer the runners. The level of the organization, the favourable climatology that characterizes Barcelona combined with a fully urban circuit that passes through the main landmarks of great interest for the runner are the key facts of this race.

The Barcelona Marathon is a 42,195 km running race which is becoming a popular classic on the international marathon calendar. It has been run since 1977 on a flat and scenic route through some beautiful landmarks. Barcelona city plays host to an annual marathon that sees the city inundated with runners from all over the world. Barcelona Marathon is fast approaching and if you plan on competing you will need to think about registering soon.

Once you’ve sent off that application, there’s no turning back and you will need to get started on your training. There will be 54 animation points all along the route of the race, addressed to the spectators, several ludic activities so that the public cheers on in a festive way the participants of the test, and enjoys the maximum possible the athletic journey.

Finally during the previous days of the event, 13 and 14 march, you will be able to visit the Expo Sports, the main sports fair in Spain with the most named brands in a 18.000m2 exhibition area. Its for free and there you will be able to pick up your bib number and official t-shirt.

Race start: 8:30am, in Avinguda María Cristina.

Approximate finish time of first runner: 10:35am, in Avinguda María Cristina.

Time limit: 6 hours from the moment the runner passes through the start line.

Seven teams, with five pacers each, will run in specific rhythms during the race to help the runners achieve their personal target times. Pacers will carry a flag with the associated target time: 2:45, 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00 and 4:30.

16 hydration stations will be available on kilometers 5, 7'5, 10, 12'5, 15, 17'5, 20, 22'5, 25, 27'5, 30, 32'5, 35, 38, 40 and finish line with water, isotonic drink, fruit, and vaseline. From kilometer 7,5 on, the runners will find wet sponges every 5km.

Sub 23: 18-22 years
Senior: 23-34 years
Veterans A: 35-44 years
Veterans B: 45-54 years
Veterans C: 55-64 years
Veterans D: 65 years and over

All registered to the Zurich Marató de Barcelona will have can pick up their bib number-chip, runner bag and shirt at the Sports Expo Sports (the shirt will be found at the end of the Sports Expo). It is mandatory to present an official document (ID card or passport) along with the mail where the number is indicated (if you do not have it, you can download it from the web once they are awarded). If you can not pick it up on the indicated days, another person can do it for you, presenting a photocopy of your ID or passport along with the receipt of your registration and the e-mail that indicates your race number.

To collect the bib number it will be essential that you bring the sheet where your dorsal number is indicated along with your oficial identity document.

Under no circumstances bib numbers will be given in the race day.
