Sat 15th January 2022

Starting at 17:00

6 races

£9.00 - £28.00

Organiser's Description

Unfortunately the pandemic has forced us to postpone this event to 2022.

The route is relatively flat compared to Dartmoor. Most of the course is on sandy soil & well drained though you may encounter some mud.

New for 2022 is a 5K course. The 5K has about 3k on tarmac but on very quiet back lanes where you're unlikely to come across a car. It also has a couple of great off-road sections.

Our 10K shares a start & finish with the 5K but also has a complete loop of Woodbury Common including a fun 'single track' section. This year our half marathon is two laps of the 10K course. But because you're running it in the dark lap two will seem just as unfamiliar!

CANICROSS CATEGORY

There's a Canicross races to give people the chance to run with their dogs.

KIDS RACES

This venue is ideal for kids too so we’ve added two kids races taking place at 5.3PM There’s a 1K for under 8s and a 2K for children aged 8-11 and the whole course is in the grounds of Bicton College.

You must bring a head torch. Surfaces are mixed but generally less gnarly than our Dartmoor races.

Race entry includes: electronic chip timing, fully marked out course using poles, arrows & flashing lights , feed station, Birch wood finisher’s medal, bottled water for all finishers,  free number transfer if you are unable to run, category prizes & spot prizes (via our free to join Strava club).

Our caterers West Country Catering will be serving hot food & drinks.

My First Night Run. Thoroughly enjoyed this race, extremely lucky with weather. Only gripe was probably down to me being tired, but no marshal at the end to direct me to finish went around the college wrong way round 🙄 but still got 1st V55 and only went a little further Will know for next year

Good Event. Really enjoyed the event , not that experienced in trails so for a first time definitely learnt a lot, Some slightly challenging hill climbs and some long distance puddle jumping in the dark made it all the more fun. looking forward to next year now I know what to expect .

Trail Fun. This was a great event. Well organised without being too manicured! Communications were good, route planned well and good marshal support from a friendly team. A tough race due to conditions but well worth the effort. Great work team.

The Weather gods were kind. My second attempt at this race, hoping for a sub 2 hour finish. Despite the weather being perfect, no rain this time and only a little wind I just missed out with a 2:05 finish. The organisation was great, there was a problem at the aid station where the marshal had to pour the waters as they were needed due to the wind blowing the cups over. Personally i think all races should be cupless so you can just leave a bunch of jugs out or canisters for people to pour into their own cups. On my second loop i did notice a few plastic cups that had either been blown there from the table or thrown there by the 10k runners, either way its not good. Hopefully these were collected the next day as finding them in the dark would have been difficult. That minor niggle aside it was a great race, night running on Woodbury is always a challenge with all of the loose rocks but thats what makes it so much fun. The wooded section is particularly fun.

The fun filled night challenge. Great event filled with challenges but packed with fun! Extremely well signposted, brilliantly marshalled with encouragement along the way! Will definitely do this event again! Thank you!
