Battle of Woodbury Common
The Battle of Woodbury Common is our newest addition to the Night Run Series, and will start and end at Bicton College, in Budleigh Salterton, in East Devon. Half marathon and 10k distances will both complete a circuit of Woodbury Common.
After exiting the College, the route follows the helm of Uphams and Crook Plantations. It then skirts Castle Plantation, and the half marathon adds on a section through Colaton Raleigh Common, towards Hawkerland. Surfaces are mixed but generally less gnarly than our Dartmoor races. The route is relatively flat and dry, but there will be muddy bits to negotiate. The first and last kilometre is on road.
For the first time we’re offering Canicross races to give people the chance to run with their dogs. This venue is ideal for kids too, so we’ve added two kids' races - a 1k for under 8s and a 2k for ages 8-11.

We now have an optional team competition. If you don’t have a team, use your club name which will also qualify for the team competition. The team’s time is the time of the first three team members to cross the line added together. Your best 4 results from 7 races count for Series Points. However if you only manage two or three races you’ll still appear in the results.
You must bring a head torch.
Write a review and you’ll be entered into a monthly draw to win a pair of running shoes of your choice from Pro:Direct Running.
My First Night Run
Only gripe was probably down to me being tired, but no marshal at the end to direct me to finish went around the college wrong way round 🙄 but still got 1st V55 and only went a little further
Will know for next year
Communications were good, route planned well and good marshal support from a friendly team.
A tough race due to conditions but well worth the effort.
Great work team.
