How To Get There
Castle Howard is located just 15 miles North East of York, just off the A64 in the direction of Malton and Scarborough.
From the North: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs.
From the South: Take the A1M to Junction 45 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue past York and eventually you will pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard. Click here to view a detailed map of directions to Castle Howard
Parking & Spectator Info
Spectators will pay a nominal fee for car parking on the estate and entry in to the grounds.
The estate will be marked where spectators can watch and position themselves around the course.
All competitors are free and children taking part in the 8-15yrs races can bring in 1 adult per competing child for free.
All money collected on the day is being used to help improve the estate for the benefit of the triathlons next year and for future years. It is advisable to bring cash to the event. An additional payment will need to be purchased to gain access to the Castle itself.

Each 1st place winner will also receive a suitably themed trophy, and sponsor’s prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. There is a significant prize pot on offer for the Olympic and Gauntlet race distances.
Festival theme with live music, a climbing wall, children’s inflatables, yoga and an array of retail outlets and concessions.
A variety of locally-sourced foods, with succulent hog roasts and wood fired pizza just two of the highlights, with a huge variety of refreshments for competitors and spectators alike.

The historic Castle grounds are open for exploration, with lakeside walks and nature and wildlife
Camping
The Castle Triathlon Series is offering camping at all UK and Irish castles (but we don’t supply the tent). If you are a camper with a tent or have a Campervan or Caravan take this fantastic opportunity to stay within the spectacular grounds of the Castle at which you are competing.
There will be toilet and showering facilities available at all sites. There will also be an electric hook-up at Castle Howard and Hever Castle which can be added to your booking on the online shop. There is no human waste disposal for caravans or camper vans on any of the Castle camping sites.
Camping is located in the Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park, approximately 15 miles north east of York, just off the A64. Post Code for sat nav YO60 7DD. From the North: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs. If you are towing a caravan please follow the signs for the route to avoid Sutton Bank – these are clearly marked. From the South: Take the A1M to Junction 45 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue past York and eventually you will pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard. Please be aware of height restrictions at the Gate House. If your vehicle is over H 3.43m x W 2.60m please access Castle Howard via Malton and Coneysthorpe. A brown sign will direct you from Malton town centre along Castle Howard Drive.
Competitor Information
Race entrants will start the race by swimming through Castle Howard’s Great Lake before transitioning onto the technical bike route through the Yorkshire and the Howardian Hills. The run leg passes through the undulating countryside of the estate before a sprint finish right in front of the main doors of the house.
Wet suits will be optional on race day if the the temp is between 15 and 23 degrees centigrade.
