A really nice run, things did get a little congested the 10k runners joined but apart from that it was one of my favourite runs that I’ve done this year
Sadly victim to flooding. Sadly this event didnt take place. It was out of the control of the organisers due to 48 hours of non stop heavy rain and flooding prior to the event ( on the Thursday before the saturday).
The organisers did all they could and an excellent job to keep runners updated -alert email on the Thursday afternoon with a promise of an update, which happened, the following day on Friday. A text alert re the cancellation was also sent on the Friday.
The organisers made it very clear what options runners were being given: transfer to the Cheshire 10k in March; transfer to other local runs; or a full refund.
Forms were attached for runners to inform the organisers of their wishes, with a request date by 15 November. All very clear.
It was sad that it couldn't take place but was the right and only decision that had to be taken. I have attended many run through events before and they have always been great events and well organised. I attended the spring Cheshire 10k this year and loved it. A PB course for me. I will look forward to running the Cheshire 10k in March.
Sad but out of everyone's control. I felt sorry for the organisers and couldnt fault them on their communication and decision.
Looking forward to spring! Until then I shall keep running and racing!
Not sure if this is a run review you wanted but thought I'd write it so you'd know how organisers handle it when it goes wrong.
Thanks for the review, the runthrough team will appreciate your feedback!
Wonderful race and amazing atmosphere. I absolutely loved this event. It was just perfectly organised from start to finish. I love Run Through events and cannot wait for the next one!
Fast, flat and well organised. This route is mostly flat and takes you through the grounds of Arley Hall and the surrounding roads (these are closed off for the race). It’s a great opportunity you wouldn’t normally be able to experience! The event was well organised and included a warm up before everyone was lined up in predicted time blocks. Great support from marshals and staff, and a great day for it over all.
