We’re thrilled to announce the Colchester Zoo Stampede 10K in May 2026, in partnership with Larking Gowen and in support of Colchester Zoological Society and Colchester MIND.
This is your chance to run one of the UK’s most unique races starting right in the heart of Colchester Zoo, between rhinos, giraffes, zebras, and elephants. The course takes you on a 1K loop through the zoo grounds before heading out onto the surrounding closed roads and finishing back inside the zoo.
Colchester Zoo is home to over 260 species and spans 60 acres of parkland and lakes. Listed as one of the top 2 zoos in the UK and ranked 11th worldwide by TripAdvisor, it's the perfect venue for a wild and wonderful 10K.

A well organised and fun event. A thoroughly enjoyable day, well organised with lots of friendly people. The event was well signposted with helpful marshalls along the way. Plenty of food and drink options. It was also great to have free admission into the zoo afterwards. Although, it was a fair distance for me to travel to, it was well worth it and I would do it again next year.
