Event summary

Get ready for an unforgettable experience at the Dead Sea Marathon in Israel, organized by Forum Pro! On Friday, February 4th, 2022, runners will have the unique opportunity to race at the lowest point on Earth, in Be'er Sheva. This spectacular event offers participants a chance to run along the stunning border embankment of the Dead Sea Works, where breathtaking views await. The route features a mostly flat and well-maintained gravel path, ensuring a fantastic running experience.

What makes this marathon truly special is the rare permission granted by security forces to use the dikes for this sporting event, allowing runners to explore areas typically reserved for factory employees and security personnel. The Dead Sea Marathon not only showcases the natural beauty of this iconic location but also symbolizes the peaceful coexistence between Israel and Jordan. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind marathon that combines adventure, scenery, and excitement!

Dead Sea Marathon Israel

Fri 4th February 2022

Aerial view of people walking along a narrow, salt-covered pathway that divides the turquoise waters of the Dead Sea. Circular salt formations are scattered across the water, and the hazy sky suggests either dawn or dusk.

Organiser's Description

Running on the water at the lowest point on earth.

The highlight of the race is a run towards the sea on the border embankment of the Dead Sea Works that surrounds the southern part of the Dead Sea. Only once a year do the security forces permit use of the dikes for sporting purposes and this gives the runners the opportunity to discover breathtaking views that have so far been observed by employees of the Dead Sea factories or security personnel.

The dike serves as the border area between the Israeli Dead Sea and the Jordanian Dead Sea and serves as a barrier without a fence between the two countries that maintain a common and peaceful daily routine. The route mostly takes place on a dense and flat graveled area and will be secured by the security forces and the army.

Event Update - 2021 Cancellation

Unfortunately, the limitations of the current crisis have not been lifted and the optimism that has kept our activities alive, concedes to the concern for the safety of the participants and the need to comply with the temporary regulations.

Therefore, a decision was made by the Tamar Regional Council and Forum Productions to postpone the Dead Sea Marathon until the following year, on 4/2/2022.

All the participants will be able to choose to get their money back, or alternatively save their place and registration fee for the next Dead Sea Land Marathon.

We thank you for the support and vote of confidence that has encouraged and given us great incentive over the past few months.

Sincerely, Tamar Regional Council and Forum Production
