Join us for the Derby Running Festival 5k, 10k & Half Marathon Sunday 2nd August 2026
Come and join us at the Derby Running Festival at Elvaston Castle Country Park! We’d love you to join us for our fourth year of the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon Running Festival around the grounds of Elvaston Castle Country Park.
The course follows a flat multi-terrain route on a mixture of trail, tarmac and footpaths, going through the castle’s grade II listed grounds, past the iconic hall and the famous Golden Gates.
This Run Britain/UKA licensed, officially measured race is open to runners of all abilities.

Route and elevation
This race consists of an undulating route on trail paths around Carsington Water. The half marathon route is and out and back followed by 1 full loop of the reservoir. The 10k is almost one full loop of the reservoir.

This was my first ever running race and first time completing a 10km, thanks to great communication I felt fully prepared and knew what I would need to do and where to be and arrived in plenty of time. The event was organised so well and I really enjoyed the whole experience, the stewards and commentator kept the momentum and made it a great atmosphere. The only down side was someone in the run carrying a boom box on his back playing music very loud. Whilst head phone were not allowed, for those wearing bone connection head phones, the boom box stopped any ability to hear your own music for the period the runner was in the vicinity. Definitely did not take away from the overall experience and I will definitely be booking to take part next year but something that did seem inconsiderate of the individual runner.

This was my first race in the UK and it was absolutely amazing; excellent organisation, all the members of the staff are very friendly and resourceful. The place is beautiful and the weather is perfect for a nice run.
