Swim Bike Run events for everyone from first‑timers to the pros

Experience the beauty of the South Downs coast. Swim against the backdrop of Eastbourne's historic pier, cycle on fully closed roads over the famous Beachy Head Road and run along the iconic seaside promenade.

Sunday's races start with TriStars Children's Aquathlons for children aged 8 to 14. The schedule will start with a TriStar Start race for 8 year olds (100m swim and 600m run), followed by a series of races over increasing distances for older children. Youth competitors (age 15-16) can take part in the super-sprint distance triathlon.

Perfect for...
Children aged 8 to 14 with some open water swimming experience. Suitable for all levels of experience from novice to experienced athletes.

Please note: Ages are taken on 31st December 2025. For example, if an 8 year old has their birthday in December they should enter the TriStar 1 (age 9-10) race.

The Swim
The swim routes will start from the Lifeguard's Beach. You will initially head east before turning clockwise around a triangular route. Distances are as follows:

Tristar Start - 8 years - 100m
TriStar 1 - 9-10 years - 200m
TriStar 2 - 11-12 years - 300m
TriStar 3 - 13-14 years - 300m

The Run
The run will be on an out-and-back route, initially on tarmac and then onto a garvel path. There is a very slight gradient heading up to the turn point.

Tristar Start - 8 years - 600m
TriStar 1 - 9-10 years - 1.2km
TriStar 2 - 11-12 years - 1.8km
TriStar 3 - 13-14 years - 2.5km

The Super-Sprint Novice Triathlon is ideal for anyone wanting to try the sport of triathlon for the first time. The event will start with a 300m sea swim, followed by a 10km cycle on a closed-roads and finishing with a 2.5km run.

Perfect for...
Anyone who wants to try a triathlon for the first time. No experience required however you must be able to swim at least 300m unaided.

The Swim
The 300m swim routes will start from the Lifeguard's Beach and follow a clockwise route. The course will be designed with the current to ensure an easy swim for novices.

The Bike
The bike route will be on a closed-roads. The route heads west along Eastbourne seafront and climbs to the turn point at Beachy Head before returning downhill back to the Western Lawms.


The Run

Athletes of all abilities and experience, from novice to elite, can sign up to take on the challenge. Starting from the lifeguard’s beach, triathletes will take on an iconic route, swimming against the backdrop of the historic Eastbourne pier, cycling on closed-roads through the South Downs National Park via Beachy Head and running on the iconic promenade to Holywell, before finishing on the Western Lawns.

The sprint distance event is ideal for anyone from novice triathletes to elites, consisting of a 750m swim, 20km cycle and a 5km run. There are also relay, duathlon (run/bike/run) and aquathon (swim/run) options.

One of the most scenic and challenging sprint distance races in the country, Eastbourne Triathlon has won many awards including the Triathlon England Event of the Year Award on two occasions.

The beautiful seaside town of Eastbourne welcomes athletes back for the Eastbourne Triathlon on the 12th July 2026. Athletes of all abilities and experience, from novice to elite, can sign up to take on the challenge. Starting from the lifeguard’s beach, triathletes will take on an iconic route, swimming against the backdrop of the historic Eastbourne pier, cycling on closed-roads through the South Downs National Park via Beachy Head and running on the iconic promenade to Holywell, before finishing on the Western Lawns.

One of the most challenging Standard Distance triathlons in the country. A 1,500m swim against the iconic backdrop of Eastbourne pier, followed by 40km bike route with 700m of climbing and a scenic seafront 10km run. There are also relay, duathlon (run/bike/run) and aquathon (swim/run) options.

More experienced triathletes and those looking to race a standard distance race for the first time. Age-group athletes seeking qualification for the GB Age Group Team.

One of the most scenic and challenging sprint distance races in the country, Eastbourne Triathlon has once again been selected as a British Triathlon Team Qualifier. The 2026 Standard Distance race will be a qualifier for the 2027 World Championship Standard Distance Triathlon.

Eastbourne Triathlon & Multisport Festival is one of the most well established and highly respected triathlon events in the country. Our middle-distance race features a sea swim against the backdrop of Eastbourne’s historic pier, a multi-lap bike course on fully closed roads over the iconic Beachy Head Road, and a fast, flat run on the seafront promenade, culminating in an unforgettable blue carpet finish line experience. It’s a course that offers both challenge and reward, all set in a stunning location.

Perfect for...
Anyone a challenging middle-distance triathlon on closed roads in a beautiful location. Experienced athletes looking for an affordable alternative to the 'big branded events'.

A relay option is also available for teams of three (one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner).

• The 90km bike route will consist of an initial short lap of 10km and then 4 laps of 20km. This provides a great experience for spectators.
• The 21.1km run route will consist of 4 laps of 5.3km on Eastbourne's historic seafront promenade.
