Esher Runs | 10K Race + 3K Family Fun Run

The Esher 10K is set primarily in the woods of Esher, Oxshott and Claygate. The Fun Run is a lovely run for all the family to enjoy and is set primarily in the woods of Esher (Arbrook Common).

There will be medals for all participants at the finish line; and special trophies for the 3 fastest males and 3 fastest females will be presented at Esher Church School at 12.00-12.30pm. Please come back to the school to celebrate with us – and enjoy some food and refreshments too!

RACE DAY REGISTRATION: Open from 09.00-09.30 (at Esher Church School) in advance of 10.00 run start from Arbrook Lane (please allow 15 minutes to walk between the two).

Bags: We encourage you to bring a friend or loved one with you to cheer you on and we’d recommend they also look after your things whilst you run. Alternatively, if you would like that extra challenge you are more than welcome to run with your bag! We discourage bringing valuables, but there will be refreshments at the end of the run, so maybe slip a note in where is most comfortable, so you don’t miss out on that end-of-run treat!

Toilets: Toilets are situated at Esher Church School and at end of the route. Please respect the local area and do not use the side streets!

Water: Water stations are situated on the edge of Arbrook Common (approx. 2km) where runners will travel through this checkpoint twice. There will also be refreshments in Claygate Recreation Ground (approx. 8km) and at Esher Church School at the end of the event.

We would encourage you to bring your own bottle that can be filled at these stations. When taking a drink/filling a bottle please be aware of those behind you, and to prevent any collisions please gradually move over to the side. Please dispose of any cups in the bins provided. If not possible, please throw it to the sides of the path rather than just dropping it so people don’t slip on it. Please do not drop any unnecessary litter.

Post-run refreshments and summer fair: Join us for a barbecue, bouncy castle, games, raffle, and drinks (caffeinated, alcoholic, or non!) after the running event – this will be 11.00-2.30pm at Esher Church School. Your barbecue lunch can be ordered online in advance below. The barbecue and summer fair raise funds for Esher Church School and help us to buy extra books and sporting equipment for the children. We hope you can come and support – we look forward to seeing you there!

Whilst running please remain aware of your surroundings at all times and take care of yourself and others. If you feel unwell beforehand please do not take part. If you become unwell during the run please tell a marshal. There will be medical cover at the Finish area. Please note any medical details or allergies on the back of your running number.

We recommend that you do not wear headphones. However, if you decide to run with headphones please ideally only use in one ear and keep the volume as low as possible and please ensure that you look around you whenever changing your direction on the course or running around someone. With limited hearing your understanding of runners around you is reduced, so please pay attention to prevent any collisions with your fellow participants.

Please remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings and your safety at all times, and listen to any instructions given to you by marshals. The route follows paths used by dog walkers and horse riders

One of the most common reasons people fail to finish a 10k run is pushing themselves too hard at the start of the race, leaving their bodies too exhausted to continue to the end. Use trial runs to gain an understanding of the paces you can maintain. This should help you to focus on finding a comfortable starting pace that you can maintain throughout the run. sure you are race fit!

The Esher Family Fun Run is a beautiful 3.2km family fun run that is perfect for all abilities and all ages, so whether you are 8 or 80, run for fitness, run for charity, or run for fun, this is the run for you!
The run gathering point is at Esher Church School, Milbourne Lane, Esher, KT10 9DU where there is registrations and bag drop.
The run will start at Arbrook Lane and go into Arbrook Common.
At the entrance to the woods, the runners turn right and do an anti-clockwise circuit on the outer path of the woods before returning to the main entrance to the woods and back up Arbrook Lane.
