Course Details
The Kempton Park Running Festival offers a range of race distances, all based around a 5k loop course which starts in front of the main Grandstand, moves out into flat grassland and follows a loop around the lake to the finish. The surface is flat tarmac and all roads are solely dedicated to runners, with no traffic or pedestrians to spoil your experience.
5k race. A single loop of the course, ideal for new runners or those wanting to participate without longer distance training.
10k race. Two laps of the course to the finish. A good opportunity to run a fast flat 10k, whatever your standard.
Half Marathon. The Half Marathon distance is 13.1 miles or 21K. On the first lap the HM runners take a 1KM spur off the main course, so completing 6KM by the end of the lap, followed by three normal laps to give the 21KM distance.
Marathon. The marathon is 26.2 miles or 42KM. The Marathon runners follow a spur of 2KM on the first lap, so completing 7KM by the lap end. They then follow a further 7 laps to the finish.
The course is excellent for spectators, particularly for the longer races, as they can position themselves to watch the runners they are supporting on every lap. Spectators can access all of the main course, getting in close to the runners to shout encouragement.
on the day
Kempton Park has excellent facilities, with an indoor registration area in the main Grandstand, toilets and secure bag drop.
Water stations are situated at half way point on the lap and every 5kms after.
Toilets on course at approx. halfway round the lap.
Coffee and snacks available throughout the day.
All competitors receive a distance medal and goodies at finish.
