Get ready for a festive running experience at the Run Gateshead Hot Chocolate 10k, 5k, and Junior 3k, taking place on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, in the beautiful setting of Derwent Country Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear. Organised by Run Nation, this winter race invites runners of all abilities to enjoy a scenic trail that winds through the picturesque park. Participants can choose from a 10k trail run, which consists of two loops on mostly flat paved footpaths, or opt for the shorter 5k, featuring one loop. Young athletes can also join in the fun with a 3k junior race, perfect for budding runners. With ample parking available near the Swalwell visitor centre, it's set to be a fantastic day filled with community spirit and warm hot chocolate to celebrate your achievements! Run Nation is pleased to present our warm winter hot chocolate race at Derwent Country Park in 2025.
10k trail race on a mix of surfaces but ideal for all abilities - just finish before the sun goes down!
Set in the picturesque Derwenthaugh Country Park, Gateshead; The 10k run is on paved footpaths and tracks in the park and is mostly flat, making it suitable for all abilities.
The 10k takes in 2 loops of the park, starting and finishing near the Swalwell visitor centre with parking available.
The 5k takes in 1 loop of the park, starting and finishing near the Swalwell visitor centre with parking available.
The junior 3k takes in one 3km out and back of the park, starting and finishing near the Swalwell visitor centre with parking available.
Due to UKA Rules and insurance, we cannot permit runners to wear in ear headphones, run with prams or dogs.
