Love Luton RunFest - 5K, 10K & Half Marathon

Sun 13th October 2024

Four runners in athletic gear are holding hands and celebrating as they cross the finish line together during a race. The runners display joyful expressions, some have their arms raised in victory. They're wearing numbered bibs in a city street setting. A runner in a yellow and black shirt is mid-stride on a road during a daytime race. Other participants and spectators are in the background, some wearing numbered bibs. A smiling woman wearing a triathlon outfit and medal, holding an award next to a man in a blue hoodie. They're standing in a sunny outdoor event area near a table with water bottles. Other people can be seen in the background.

Organiser's Description

Love Luton is delighted to host the 11th  running event for the town.

The 5K, 10K and half marathon races will start and finish from the same central location, St Georges Square in Luton town centre.

We can confirm that all routes will be the same as last year.

The 5K & 10K routes will not go into the grounds of Luton Hoo and therefore makes the course much more accessible to all, but still a great opportunity for those raising money for charities or looking to take on a new challenge whilst still getting to experience the great atmosphere on the day. All courses are on road, some parts are hilly making the course challenging at times but they are evenly spread throughout. All this coupled with beautiful scenery and being traffic free makes for a wonderful experience.

Spaces are limited so runners are encouraged to sign up early to avoid disappointment.

The 10K race will start at 8:50am and the 5K at 8:45am and the half marathon at 9:00am. All runners will have a maximum of three hours to finish. A fully qualified and experienced convoy will follow the race and will lift the road closures as soon as it is safe to do so, allowing traffic to flow as normal. All road closures will be lifted by no later than 12:30pm.

Course was challenging for the first half of the race which was good but I felt the race experience was disappointing. The race pack informed that one of the car parks was free when in actual fact a charge applied. The race village was non-existent which was poor on such a cold morning. There was no water stop after 7 miles as the scheduled 3rd stop had run out after the 10k runners passed through. The signage from 11 miles was awful and the marshalls from 11 miles were not at all helpful, preferring to look at phones or look the other way. After the first half of the race when you went back through town people were walking across the route causing runners to weave and I saw the half marathon leaders held up by 10k runners as they exited the park. I certainly would not run Luton again.

Everything was fine, very nice tour for Half Marathon via Luton Hoo - as always. No finishers t-shirt this year, but for me it's not important.
