Organiser's Description

Initiated in 2007, the Meadows Marathon is an annual student-run event held in The Meadows in Edinburgh to raise funds for charity. Since its inception, the Meadows Marathon has raised over £238,000.

Meadows Marathon has races for every ability level, from our 5K to the full Marathon. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, there's a race for you. Challenge yourself with one of our longer distances and be part of the fun and excitement—sign up now! Runners must be at least 18 years old.

Course Details

The Meadows Marathon takes place in the heart of Edinburgh’s iconic Meadows park, offering a flat, looped course that’s perfect for runners of all abilities. Each lap is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) and winds through scenic parkland with plenty of space for spectators to cheer you on.

Depending on your chosen race distance, you’ll complete a set number of laps, with clearly marked turning points along the route to guide you. Marshals and signage will indicate when to head to the finish line or continue for another lap, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for every runner.

5K = 2 laps
10K = 4 laps
Half = 9 laps
Full = 18 laps

What's Included

Your ticket entitles you to a brilliant day out running through the beautiful Edinburgh Meadows! You will receive a unique runner's number and accurate timing chip, with results posted to our website throughout the day. You have access to toilets, changing rooms and bag drop facilities on the day. On finishing, runners will receive a medal made from recycled materials.

How to Get There

We highly encourage participants and spectators to use public transport for a hassle-free experience. Services 2, 9, 12, 23, 27, 35 and 47 all stop within a few minutes walk to the registration venue and run up to every 20-30 minutes throughout the day. You can check bus routes and times on the Lothian Buses website.
For participants travelling by train to the event, the nearest train station is Edinburgh Waverley. It is conveniently located within a 15 minute walk from the event

Parking

For those who prefer to travel by car, on-street parking is available nearby; however, charges and time restrictions may apply. Please use the RingGo App to find nearby parking spaces and time restrictions/prices.

Location

Registration will take place inside the Edinburgh Futures Institute, University of Edinburgh, 1 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh, EH3 9EF

Upon arrival, you will collect your runner number, which is chipped to record your run time. Simply provide your name and postcode at registration.

For on the day sign ups, there will be a separate desk. Registration will close 30 minutes before each race.
