Join us for the exhilarating Charity Open Water Swim in the Cotswolds, hosted by the Lechlade & District Lions Club on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the stunning Bowmoor Lake in Lechlade, Gloucestershire. Kicking off at 9:00 AM, experienced swimmers can participate in the 3k race, while at 10:30 AM, there's a chance for everyone to get involved in our 3k, 2k, or 1k sponsored challenge to raise funds for local charities. For those new to open water swimming, we offer a unique 250m taster session to help you dive into the experience! This year, we are thrilled to have Olympic medalist Cassie Patten hosting the event, sharing her expertise and passion for swimming. With limited spots available for 140 participants, be sure to secure your place early—entry fees are £30 for all events, except the taster session, which is just £10. All proceeds will go towards supporting worthy local causes, so come along, make a splash,

Lechlade & District Lions Club's sixth Open Water Swimming Race & Challenge will be held in Bowmoor Lake, Lechlade, Gloucestershire, courtesy of the Bowmoor Sailing Club.
For the fourth year running, we are delighted to announce that Olympic Medal swimmer, Cassie Patten, has agreed to host the event as well as sharing some of her experience and knowledge.
Bowmoor Lake is the best open water location in the Cotswolds, it is fed by an underground stream and is managed to minimise weed growth.
We start at 9-00 with a 3k race for experienced open water swimmers. At 10-30 we have a 3k, 2k or 1k sponsored challenge to help raise money for charity. Uniquely we have a 250m taster for those new to Open Water Swimming!
The event is limited to 140 participants on a first come, first served basis.
The entry fee will be £30 for all the day’s events apart from the taster session, which is £10.
All funds raised will be used to support local charitable causes.
Last year, the 3k race was won by Lucy Blacker in the amazing time of 48 mins 23 seconds. She won a clean sweep of the awards - fastest overall swimmer, fastest female swimmer, and fastest under 18 swimmer!

Course Details
The course is a 1 km lap at the East of the lake. Racers will compete over 3 laps and the "Challenge" swimmers will swim 1, 2 or 3 laps as is their wont.
The taster session will run alongside the bank of the lake in relatively shallow water.
