Organiser's Description

The Quendon & Rickling RunFest is back after the postponement of 2020 (and early 2021!!) with a choice of 10k & 5k mixed terrain fun run, and a 1k fun run for younger participants. We also have a NEW 1km ROUTE to make it a little more interesting for the kids!

We will once again be putting on a true festival atmosphere but this year the emphasis will be on fitness and fun - with plenty of social distancing and sanitiser for good measure.

We will have mini classes for all ages and abilities in addition to the 3 runs, including yoga, pilates, ((Bounce)), stretching workshops, football challenges, strength classes and more.

Starting on the Village Green, the run is largely off road and multi terrain making use of woodland paths, local footpaths and bridleways. The event will appeal to runners of all levels of fitness as well as the more experienced. Primary school age children may enter the 1k.

A great community event with 100% of the proceeds going towards Rickling Primary School for new facilities.

Please note - there will be NO on the day entries.

Although we expect to be out of lockdown restrictions we will still be operating plenty of social distancing and minimal contact practices.

Start times for the runs will be staggered so you will start in small groups rather than one mass start.

All of the festival activities will be no contact with social distancing and sanitisation practices in place.

There will not be a formal baggage drop within the event village, please limit the number of belongings you bring to the event and leave anything in the car during the race to reduce contact between runners and staff.

The race will start in waves based on your estimated finish time, with the faster runners at the start and slower near the back to avoid any congestion and the need to overtake on course.

There will be an informal grab and go water station with sealed sports top bottles on the course, however we ask that you stay hydrated before the event and if you are able to please bring your own. Bottles and camelbacks are permitted.

If you need to overtake on the course please give a wide berth of at least 1 meter around any runners.

Spitting and nasal clearance during the race is not permitted.

Do not stop within the finish barriers. Please continue past the finish until you pass the medals and are in an open space.
We ask that once you have collected your medal and water to leave the finish area as soon as possible to avoid groups congregating.

Half way between Bishops Stortford and Saffron Walden.

Due to the current situation and social distancing guidelines, and to help reduce the delays and queues in the registration hall, this year we are posting out your race packs to you. That way you can then just turn up and run!

As such the entry fee has increased slightly to accommodate this, but only by £2.

There will be no entries on the day.

Entries will close at midnight on Sunday 12th September to give enough time to post out the race numbers.

This year we are once again encouraging children to raise sponsorship for the school by competing in the Quendon & Rickling RunFest 2021.

By using JustGiving for sponsorship we can claim an extra 25% through GiftAid for any monies sponsored by UK tax payers, in addition to making it much more straightforward to collect funds.

Please visit the link below to set up your own fundraising page through JustGiving.

You will either need to register or sign in if you already have a JustGiving account. It is really simple, and only takes a minute or two.

A fun day

I really enjoyed the 1k run and I am now going to run 5k with my mum next year! Thank you for organising the event.

Great Fun Organised Event

Really enjoyed the out & back this past Sunday. Great course, very well organised!

A Lovely Community Event

A very well organised, community event. It was fun and family friendly, especially with the 1k fun run being held before the longer runs, so everyone one could watch the little ones as they raced round the village green. The route of the 10k was scenic and the marshals were super enthusiastic. Add in plenty of parking and fabulous weather and you have a pretty perfect event.

Lovely country run

Despite heat and humidity from parking, collecting number, Marshall’s and commentators encouragement, it was a well organised and friendly run.

Great 10k run

Prerace- collected my race number when I arrived there which was quick and easy. The race took longer than I thought to get started as there was a 1k fun run before the main 5/10k runs

start of the run- Seemed a little confusing at the beginning as 10k runners were supposed to be at the front of the start line and 5ks following but it seemed not many people understood this
but once it got started it went well and the marshals were very helpful and supportive.
The track was a little tricky as a lot of it was on loose stone paths but was good for a challenge

At the end, you could print out your race time and position which was very helpful

Very friendly & well organised event

Lovely route, fab medals & free water bottles. My 3 teenage girls & I really enjoyed it. Great location.

Jessica Johnson / Jun 24, 2019

Well organised, challenging course

The race was well organised and flowed smoothly. It was a challenging course due to the undulating route (added to that it was also a hot day). I will be back next year!

Nice day out!

I was made aware of this event by my sons school so thought I’d give it a go. Bit of a queue to get in to the car park but that was to be expected. Once in the lady at the entrance was very friendly and they seemed quite organised. I just followed the crowd to the school as didn’t really know where I was going and had to ask someone where I collected my race number from which I collected easily enough. I took myself over to the start and waited til we were instructed to go! It was suppose to be 10k first then 5k but everyone seemed to go at the same time! The course is very pleasant with a couple of hills but they could have done with a few more marshals as several people went the wrong way! I enjoyed it but was a bit miffed with the ‘medal’ as not sure you could actually call it that! Overall it’s a lovely event and I suspect I will take part again especially now I know what is what 😁

Very enjoyable

This event was well organised , marshals were great and everyone involved made this a pleasant experience. Will run this again next year

Michael Enwright / Jun 24, 2019

Well organised, friendly event!

First time running this on Sunday. Very good organisation both beforehand and on the day. Lots of helpers around for parking and marshalling. Very hilly course so be warned! It is mainly in countryside so stunning views.

Claire Neal / Jun 24, 2019

A friendly run!

I've done this run a couple of times now - not the largest, (which is a plus for me), but one of the friendliest! Its probably not for you if you are looking to beat your PB, but is for you if looking for a lovely run across varied terrain.

mark kendall / Jun 24, 2019

A well organised event

Set in a lovely village, easy parking and very well organised.
Great route and really enjoyed it. Will sign up again next year.
A little pricey for a run though but understand its for a good cause
