Event summary

Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping challenge at the Rifle Run North organised by ABF The Soldiers' Charity. Taking place on Sunday 3rd November 2019 in Frodsham, Cheshire West and Chester, this event offers participants the opportunity to experience the UK's toughest 10km race, inspired by Army basic training exercises. With a unique twist, participants will face three shooting challenges throughout the course, with 20 targets to hit in total. Miss a shot? Prepare to run a 250m penalty loop before continuing. Hit all 20 targets and complete the 10km course, but miss them all and face a 15km run. Don't worry, hitting at least 15 shots will earn you 'marksman' status. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind event that combines cross-country racing with the thrill of shooting!

Faqs - The Event

When is it? You will need to arrive an hour before your start time to complete registration. During registration you’ll receive a safety briefing, your registration number and timing chip, and have the chance to meet other people taking part.

Is there an age restriction? The minimum age is 18, there is no upper age limit.

How far is it? The minimum route is 10km – if you miss all of your shots you’ll run a maximum of 15km.

Do I need to train? You’ll need to train for the run! The better prepared you are for the run the steadier your hands will be for the shooting. We will send you a training plan to make sure you’re in tip top condition and stand more chance of hitting those targets.

What should I bring? A full kit list will be sent once you have registered.

Faqs - The Shooting

Who is managing the shooting/ranges? The weapons and ranges are managed by British Shooting and E.J. Churchill. Instruction will be on a one-on-one basis

Is it safe? Safety is paramount – to ensure this we have teamed up with British Shooting and E.J. Churchill to ensure that the weapons are carefully controlled and managed. Each range will have qualified instructors who will work with each runner one on one. As with all such events which require physical exertion there is a small risk, however we do everything we can to get you as prepared as possible for the run itself.

What will I be shooting? Two shooting challenges will be using an Air-Arms MPR and the third using a shotgun.

Faqs - Fundraising

Is Gift Aid included in my sponsorship target? Like many other charities, Gift Aid is not included in minimum sponsorship targets.

Can I fundraise online? You can create a personalised fundraising page for you to use which you can fill with your own photos and sponsors can leave you messages of support. All you have to do is send it out to everyone and everyone! Login here >>

How can I pay everything in? What happens if I do not reach the minimum sponsorship target? All we can ask is that you do your absolute best to raise £250 per person. You also have up to 6 weeks after the event to hit that all-important target.

Why do I have to raise money and where does it go? ABF The Soldiers’ Charity helps soldiers, veterans, and their families. Find out more.
