The only bad aspect were the toilet facilities. They are placed on a grassy and muddy area and your feet will get muddy and wet before the race. Otherwise, love the park setting and everything else went smoothly. I would not consider it the best place to set a PB as it's incredibly hilly, but it's a fun and challening route.

Really well organised and really enjoyed it. This is NOT FOR BEGINNERS though. This was my first half and the hills are absolute killers. Would definitely come back and do it again after more practice! Thanks to everyone who organised it! A really nice day out!

Lovely location, staff were friendly but I wouldn’t recommend this for a first half marathon.. the hills were quite steep.

On my point of view it was very good organised event. It was having everything that you need. The park has few hills but is OK. If I can do it, everyone can.

Lovely park, very steep hills so maybe not suitable for your first race. The members of the public got in the way a lot and had to shout at times to be let through groups blocking entire path! Warm up was very brief, helpers were friendly! Lovely Irish woman very encouraging but the rest lacked much enthusiasm for runners

I did the half marathon at Heaton park and for my 1st attempt at a half marathon was not the best idea doing it here. The run up was fine, I got my bib in good time. There were clear instructions on the email and the price was good. However I was not prepared for the inclines this run has. I did some incline training however nothing prepared me for these inclines. There is one killer incline, and you get to do it 4 times! Unfortunately it rained too. By the time I walked from the car park to the event area, my feet were wet. I did bring some spare socks, however decided not to change straight away and do it at some point. Due the rain, there were huge puddles. If you have little legs like I do, you have no option to run through it, and not over it. This puddle was there to meet you every 4 laps which just added more pain to get through. Apart from the above, the race was well organised and staffed. There was plenty of water being held out and volunteers to cheer you on and shake their tamparine. If this is your first half marathon, I would avoid and go for a flat run like Manchester half or the one in September. However if you fancy a really tough one, go for this.

Some parts of course was very slippery. No grit at all, seen few runners falling and injury.

A well organised race but not great for a first time half marathon as the course is hillier than I was expecting.

As my 1st 10K run I really enjoyed the experience . It's definitely not the easiest course to do there are a lot of hills and in some parts muddy terrain so it's not flat so probably not the ideal for a 1st 10k but I wanted to challenge myself which was the point. Some more guidance would be appreciated before the race starts as I arrived in Heaton park not really knowing where I had to go instead I had to follow other racers to find out where I was supposed to go to store my bags and to check in so more signs or clear visible volunteers would of made the experience better in my opinion additionally having an option to receive or buy a t shirt saying you completed the couse alongside the medal would be something that would also been great to have. During the race there were no issues on where I had it was very clear signs and often there were plenty of staff and people cheering the racers which made the experience memorable.
