Join us for the Shakespeare Marathon & Half Marathon, a well established event in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. With a predominantly road closed, PB-friendly course and a scenic route through the Warwickshire countryside, this is a fantastic choice for runners taking on either the Half Marathon or the full Marathon distance.
Starting in the town centre, the route heads past the racecourse before making its way through Luddington and Welford-on-Avon. Runners then join the Stratford Greenway, a hard compact footpath that offers smooth, consistent running conditions on the way back into Stratford-upon-Avon.
The Half Marathon follows one lap of this new and improved course before finishing in the Recreation Ground, delivering a rewarding route with a brilliant event atmosphere. Marathon runners will complete two laps, with the second loop extending through Long Marston before returning to the Recreation Ground for the finish.
Whether you are aiming for a personal best or simply want to enjoy a memorable race day in one of the UK’s most historic settings, the Shakespeare Marathon & Half Marathon promises a brilliant day of racing.

My first half marathon and what a day for it! The weather was beautiful the route was well marshalled and lots of encouragement all the way, a lovely route through the town into the countryside, a little bit of loose stone under foot towards the end which is a little challenging but apart from that, definitely one to get down on your list!

My first half marathon and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The organisation, the course and the weather were spot on. What a fabulous part of the world (not as flat as I’d been told but you realise for the ups you get the downhill propulsion!) I clocked 2hrs 10mins but reckon 2 hrs is doable so will look for a similar event for sure!

Great race and an ideal marathon if you want a road route that's a bit more interesting than the usual. About 9 miles is on trails but it's wide, flat paths, nothing rugged, and the rest is quiet country lanes and a bit of waterside. Fantastic atmosphere with loads of enthusiastic volunteers and marshals; a brilliant finish straight (felt like Tour de France) and one of the best medals around. Definitely the one to go for if you didn't get into London.

Well organised, good route. This is my home training ground, so it was nice to get round to racing it. Good course, with a few gentle undulations and some nice scenery. Well organised, only potential area for improvement might be having some biiiig signs floating over by the bag drop, changing rooms etc.
