Organiser's Description

The 9th Something Wild Festival 2023 has Devon’s best trail running routes at its heart, a wonderful new venue and new routes, taking in the Avon and Salcombe estuaries and some of the best sections of the South West Coast Path

We have a fantastic venue for the Something Wild Festival, close to the sea, which sits at the fulcrum of the event routes and we’ve found the perfect spot, with the camping site, at the fulcrum of the race routes. We have moved the festival back to September, so there is little chance of ‘scrub fires’, which have occurred on this coastline in the summer.

Make this an autumn to remember and bring your family.

This year, we are kicking off the festival with a Friday night race, preceded by a cafe and bar, selling beer and non alcoholic beer provided by Salcombe Brewery.

Make this a summer to remember and bring your family.

This year, we are kicking off the festival with a Friday night race, which will be followed by a BBQ and an honesty bar.

The Festival site
The farmer has Kindly given access to his fields, overlooking the idyllic Hope Cove, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better location to wake up to in the south west. close to ideal swimming spots in Hope Cove, East Soar and Bantham Bay.

The campsite is suitable for up to 50 tents, parking and camper vans, as well as and serving as the fulcrum for all our trail events, which is ideal for spectators.

We’ll be offering extra toilet facilities, as well as a secret location (to be revealed shortly) for our speaker’s and comedy evening.

Unique South West Coast Path Trails
We have lined up some of the best coast routes on the South West Coast path for our night run, 5k, 10k or half marathon, marathon and Summit Wild Ultra as well as kid’s races.

We will kick off the festival with a night time run on Friday before the half marathon, marathon and ultra on Saturday and the 10k and 5k events on Sunday. For the Saturday events, runners will have the option of making their own transport arrangements, or can purchase a seat on our event bus which will shuttle runners to the start in Salcombe and Bolberry Down respectively.

On the Saturday evening, there will be a comedy night in the main venue, involving some of the South West’s best comedians.

Forest School
You can drop your kids at forest school from 10am to 12 noon on either day, with our experienced and qualified forest school leaders, while taking part in the 5k or 10k race or one of our guided wild swims. To join the forest school, you have to have booked camping or weekend tickets.

Entertainment
There’ll be live comedy on Saturday evening and a speakers evening on Friday evening to kick start the weekend.

Other stuff
Kids races, giant trampolines, a bouncy castle, local food, a drinks bar and a speaker’s evening, comedy and film night. outdoor yoga, a wild swim, walks, forages, book swap, BBQ, and Capture the flag of course!
