How Does It Work?

Taking part couldn’t be easier.

Choose your route, lace up your trainers and complete 5 kilometres by running, jogging, walking or using a combination of all three.

You could complete your Spring Into Running 5K:

Through a park full of spring flowers
Along a woodland or countryside trail
Around your local streets
Beside a river, canal or reservoir
During a bright spring morning or evening
On a treadmill
At your local parkrun
With friends, family or your running club
With your four-legged running companion

However you choose to complete your distance, your 5K counts.

Why Take Part?

Spring is all about fresh starts.

After the darker mornings and colder weather of winter, the Spring Into Running 5K provides a simple, achievable target to help you rediscover your motivation.

It could be the perfect challenge if you want to:

🌱 Start running for the first time
🌷 Return to running after a winter break
🏃 Set yourself a new 5K goal
⏱️ Attempt a new personal best
🚶 Walk your first organised 5K challenge
🌼 Spend more time exercising outdoors
🏅 Add another colourful medal to your collection

Your 5K doesn’t have to be about speed. Take your time, enjoy your surroundings and make the challenge work for you.

Perfect for Beginners

You don’t need to be an experienced runner to take part.

Walk the whole distance, jog it, use a run/walk strategy or challenge yourself to run the entire 5K.

There is no fixed start line and no intimidating race environment, making the event suitable for people taking their first steps into running as well as experienced runners looking for another challenge.

Run Anywhere

The beauty of a virtual race is that you choose the start line.
