Swim Serpentine

Swim Serpentine is a swimming event that takes place in the world-famous Serpentine lake in London's Hyde Park. There are four distance options to choose from, making this the perfect event for an enjoyable and memorable open water swim.

Swim Serpentine will return in 2026 on Saturday 19th September.

“Swim Serpentine is an amazing event, which is growing in popularity each year, just as open water swimming is,” said Alison Hamlett, Event Lead at London Marathon Events. “More and more people are experiencing the unique feeling of swimming in open water and the physical and mental health benefits it brings.

“If you haven’t tried it yet then Swim Serpentine is a great place to give it a go with our half-mile event. For those who have more open-water experience, our one or two-mile distances are great options.

“Swimming in such an iconic location as the Serpentine is something you’ll never forget.”

Your safety is our number-one priority at Swim Serpentine, so our water safety team will be standing by to assist on the day. The Swim Serpentine course will be clearly marked by large buoys, so you’ll find it easy to make your way around your chosen swim distance.

It’s a good idea to complete your chosen distance in full in a pool before the event, and also to practise swimming in open water beforehand, so you have the best possible experience at Swim Serpentine.
