Get ready for an exhilarating challenge as The Hurt returns to Guildford, Surrey on Saturday, October 11th, 2025! Organised by the dedicated Rory Macpherson and his team behind the renowned G3 Series, this event promises to be the toughest trail run in the South East. Runners will tackle a grueling 21-kilometre course, featuring at least 650 meters of steep, rocky ascent through the stunning, lesser-known trails of Hurtwood Forest.

After a brief hiatus, The Hurt is back due to popular demand, and it's set to be an unforgettable experience for all participants. Organiser's Description

After a brief hiatus, and because of popular demand, guess who’s back! The Hurt is back! Come and join us, the same team who deliver the G3 Series. Take part in the toughest trail run in the South East that you’re likely to complete! Likened to fell running by those who last ran the Hurt, the route includes at least 650m of steep, rocky ascent over 21kms of the lesser known trails through the Hurtwood Forest.

Course Details

The route will have memories of the original Hurt route and with some new lung busting hills! The Hurtwood forest, rocks, mud, babbling brooks and a bit more mud…. You will need your trail shoes! It’s going to hurt…

There is a small section of back road so always be mindful of cars. The volunteer marshals will be on the route.

The route is designed to be a challenge and not for pbs!

Horses, mountain bikers, dog walkers: Always be aware of others. If approaching horses from behind, make yourself known in good time to avoid unwanted surprises! The area is popular with mountain bikers.

What's Included

Free parking right next to registration, medics and marshals on the route, clearly marked route; cracking route through the Hurtwood Forest on single technical single track, under-water bridleways, muddy and rocky footpaths; water stations and jelly babies, regular email updates.

  • What time does it start?

    Unless logistics don't allow it all will start at 0830.

  • Will I receive my race number in the post?

    All runners will collect their chip and race number at registration. Nothing is posted to you pre event.

  • What time does registration open and close?

    Registration will open at 0645 and close 0815
