Organiser's Description

Our forests are the perfect place to run, and this autumn we are excited for the return of Forest Runner, a collection of 5k and 10k trail run events hosted at twelve of our beautiful forests across England. The proceeds from your ticket go back into Forestry England, helping us to grow, shape and care for the nation's forests. Forest Runner events are managed in partnership with Events of the North

Westonbirt Arboretum has one of the world’s finest botanical collections of trees and shrubs. Managed by Forestry England, it is perhaps the most important and widely known arboretum in the United Kingdom - what better place to enjoy a run.

Course Details

The 10k route is a mildly undulating single lap, all on high quality gravel tracks except for a short section of tarmac. Starting on the downs, enjoy the flat start and soak up the views of the picturesque old arboretum. Catch a glimpse of Westonbirt house and maybe even spot a Gruffalo as you go around.

At around the half way point the route drops down across the valley and into Silk wood. This half of the course contains the undulations. Running through Silk wood is a chance to see many of Britain's native trees as well as specimens from further afield. You’ll run over the STIHL treetop walkway before the short but steep climb up Skilling hill to the finish line.

Event seemed well organised to start with. Booked online and pack arrived in the post so no registration needed on the day but then there were lots of issues with runners chips so race was delayed by 20 mins. Results are also still not yet posted or shared.
