Organiser's Description

A fast and flat course around the coastal front of Lytham St Annes and Fairhaven. This popular half marathon is great for runners of all abilities and ages. The route is a two lap course with multiple water stations on route, fully marshalled, amazing medal at the finish line and the usual FCR friendly atmosphere.

What's Included

When you book a place on the Windmill Half Marathon, you can expect a comprehensive and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Prior to the event, participants will receive a detailed race pack containing essential information, including the race route, event schedule, and tips for race day preparation.

On the day of the event, you can anticipate a well-organised and welcoming atmosphere.

Runners will be provided with a high-quality race bib, personalised with their name and pre-attached chip timing tag. There will be ample parking and clear signage to guide you to the start line. Participants will have access to baggage storage transport tomthe finish too. Throughout the race, there will be strategically placed aid stations, as well as enthusiastic volunteers offering support and encouragement. After crossing the finish line, runners will receive a commemorative blingtastic medal.

How to Get There

To get to Lytham Windmill in Lytham St Annes, follow these steps:
By Car:

From Preston (North):
Head southwest on the A583.
Continue on the A584 towards Lytham.
As you approach Lytham, follow signs for the Promenade.

From Blackpool (North):
Take the A584 along the coast heading south towards Lytham.
Continue following signs for Lytham and then the Promenade.

From M55 (East):
Exit the M55 at junction 4, take the A583 exit to Blackpool.
Follow the A583 and then the A5230.
At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Progress Way/A5230.
Continue on the A5230, take the exit toward Lytham St Annes.
Follow signs for the A584 to Lytham.

By Public Transport:

From Blackpool:
Take the train from Blackpool South to Lytham.
Walk from Lytham train station to the Windmill (approximately 10-15 minutes walk).

From Preston:
Take the train from Preston to Lytham.
Walk from Lytham train station to the Windmill (approximately 10-15 minutes walk).

On Foot:

If you are already in Lytham, head towards the coast.
Walk along the Promenade until you reach Lytham Windmill, which is located near Lytham Green.

Key Points of Interest:

Lytham Windmill is a prominent landmark on the Lytham Green.
Look for signs for Lytham Promenade and Green; the windmill is situated on the edge of the Green, facing the estuary.

The race was very well organised, and overall I really enjoyed the experience. I have previously run the Manchester Half, and comparing; I found the atmosphere here much more relaxed and enjoyable. There were also more opportunities for supporters to watch and cheer runners on, which was great. The volunteers were fantastic, very friendly and encouraging, and there were plenty of water stations along the route, which was much appreciated. The only thing I would suggest improving for next year is the availability of toilets during the race. The only toilets I saw along the route were locked and could only be accessed with a key, so having more accessible toilet facilities during the race would make the experience even better. Overall, a really well-organised and enjoyable race. Thank you to everyone involved!

Excellently organised with great support from all the marshalls and volunteers. Well sign posted so know where to go and plenty of aid stations with loads of water which was much appreciated. Thank you and look forward to attending next year.
