Windmill Half Marathon

When you book a place on the Windmill Half Marathon, you can expect a comprehensive and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Prior to the event, participants will receive a detailed race pack containing essential information, including the race route, event schedule, and tips for race day preparation.

On the day of the event, you can anticipate a well-organised and welcoming atmosphere.

Runners will be provided with a high-quality race bib, personalised with their name and pre-attached chip timing tag. There will be ample parking and clear signage to guide you to the start line. Participants will have access to baggage storage transport tomthe finish too. Throughout the race, there will be strategically placed aid stations, as well as enthusiastic volunteers offering support and encouragement. After crossing the finish line, runners will receive a commemorative blingtastic medal.

The race venue is at Lytham Windmill on the Green, Lytham St Annes. The registration area is open from 8.00am for bib number collection and entries on the day (if available).

All runners receive a commemorative medal at the finish line, along with drinks and snacks to help you recover from your run. Individual race winners are awarded prizes in the following categories:

​• First 3 Male winners in the race
• First 3 Lady winners in the race
• First Male Veteran over 40/45/50/55/60/65/70+
• First Lady Veteran over 35/40/45/50/55/60/65+

The awards presentation will be at the registration area at approximately 12.30pm. Prizes must be collected on the day, they cannot be posted out. If you think you may be a category winner, you can check at any time during the event from the support trailer located near to the finish line.

BIB NUMBER COLLECTION
The collection points will be open from 8.00am. All competitors must wear a personalised bib number on the front of their running top or jacket. The bib number also carries the chip timing tag which must be clearly visible as you go over the start and finish lines. Safety pins are available if required.

When you have collected your bib number, there is a contact/medical form on the back which needs to be completed before you start. When you're ready it needs to be pinned to the FRONT of your running top, with the silver timing tag visible. Don't bend, remove, break or stick any pins through your tag as it won't work!

COLLECT FROM OUR OFFICE
If you live local, you can collect your bib number from our office on between 10am-4pm, the week before the run.

RACE DAY
Arrive in plenty of time to allow you to park, register if necessary and get changed. Just before the start the toilets will become busy so please plan your visit carefully. When you’ve got your runner number, please fill in the medical information section on the back. Be careful not to damage or lose your number as replacements can’t be issued. If there’s a risk you may blackout during the race (for example if you suffer from fits), please put a red cross on the front of your number. Please pin your number on your FRONT without folding or covering it - it needs to be seen by the race marshals. Do not pass your running number onto somebody else without notifying registration first. This is to ensure the results are correct and for obviously safety and medical reasons. When you are happy that you are ready to run, make your way to the start area. The route to the start point is clearly marked. Line up behind the start line. There will be a few short safety announcements and then the race will start at 10.00am sharp. The route you are running on is open to the public so be aware of some traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. We advise that you do not wear iPods or similar devices whilst running. You may not hear marshals or indeed fellow runners if they need help! At the finish you will be awarded with your runners medal. There is water available and also medics should they be needed.

PARKING
Parking is available throughout the area, both car parks and on-street parking. Follow this link to find a suitable place PARKOPEDIA.

WATER STATIONS & COURSE AID
Water stations are located at regular intervals on the route. Bottled water is available to all runners. The bottle cap will be removed before being passed to you. The station will be clearly signed. Please try and drop your bottles as soon as possible so we don’t litter the course too much. It also helps the crew at the stations to pick the bottles up quicker. A water station is also located at the finish area. Medics are available throughout the course on bikes and at the finish. If you get into any difficulties on the course you should alert a steward or medic who will be able to help you.

DROPPING OUT, SLOWER RUNNERS & WALKING
If you have to drop out for any reason, and you cannot make your own way back to the race venue to collect your belongings, then make your situation known to a course steward or a member of the medic crew. Arrangements will be made to pick you up and bring you back. Priority will be made in cases of injury or illness. If you are very slow, but are determined to finish, on-course facilities may become less available. Our team at the rear of the field will endeavour to give you support and advice. At some point, perhaps through tiredness, cramp, blisters, etc, you may be forced to walk. If this happens you must move as far to the left hand side as possible to allow runners to overtake.

BAGGAGE STORAGE
You will find a baggage storage marquee located next to the collection points. Use this facility to store essential items you will need for when you have finished your run. Do not leave any valuables as this area is not manned.

CAR KEY STORAGE
We have a key drop facility available. Use your empty envelope after collecting your bib number to place your keys in and hand to a member of staff at the bib collection points for safekeeping whilst you are competing.

TOILETS
Portable toilets are installed for the event and will be located next to the start and finish area. Toilets are available on the route and are marked on the route map.

RESULTS
Shortly after the last competitor has finished, the results will be published on the events website​. The results will show your official event time and your personal chip time. If you have any problems with your results we will try and sort as quickly as possible for you.
