Hercules Events

Struck by the absence of local events, Hercules Events was founded in 2011 by a small group of sports enthusiasts who were determined to develop triathlon and multi-sports in Hertfordshire.

Following a very successful first Olympic Distance Triathlon event in May 2012, our reputation and portfolio of events quickly grew. We resurrected the long mothballed Welwyn & Hatfield Festival of Sport, which was first staged in 2013. The Festival included multiple triathlons, long distance open water swim events, cyclo-sportives and run races. It was a huge success, and has now built into an annual highlight of the sporting calendar.

We expanded our portfolio of events into other counties and hosted Aquathlons, Duathlons and Triathlon in multiple venues including the impressive Inspire Sports Village in Luton during the 2014 season and Merchant Taylors Northwood and Westminster Lodge St. Albans were new additions for 2015, and have been going from strength to strength every year since.

Our 3 times weekly open water swimming sessions are hugely popular with triathletes, aquathletes, channel swimmers and those who just swim or swim for fun. Our open water swim facilities are second to none, with a clear beautiful lake, strong water safety team, male and female hot showers, hot drinks and snacks; as well as a popular bar after our Wednesday evening sessions. We offer wet suit hire and purchase, as well as one to one or group coaching sessions.

We pride ourselves on developing strong relationships with local sports clubs and youth groups, who contribute to our events by providing marshals. We also strongly promote charitable giving and work closely with our charity partners, raising thousands of pounds for charity each year.

We have built a strong reputation for quality and personal attention to our competitors. To us our participants are not customers but valued friends who are helping us to make sports accessible to everyone regardless of their ability.
