Course Description

This is a 3.5 lap undulating course in Shroggs Park, Halifax on a mixture of mainly tarmac paths and a section of trail path . The course is within the 10 hectares of Shroggs Park which comprises of ornamental structures, floral displays, sports field, bowling greens, playground and skate park. The route offers views of the surrounding hills and heritage of this area. Starting adjacent to an ornamental gothic drinking fountain the course heads anti-clockwise on the wide tarmac perimeter path to the west and south west of the park where there are oak scrubland slopes to the right hand side of the path and fabulous views of the surrounding area. With the sports playing fields on your left the path changes to a trail path with compacted rocky and wood chipped sections. The trail section then leads back onto a tarmac path which loops past St Georges Church and the main entrance to the park on Lee Mount Road , and sweeps upwards to the left and heads up past the playground and monument and back towards the gothic drinking fountain. At this point a right hand turn takes you around the fountain and down a wide tree lined avenue featuring rocky outcrops for a short ‘out and back’ section before returning back towards the start to complete a lap. This is repeated three times and on the final half lap the finish is on the left hand side past the playground and just before the monument.
