Overview

The course is 5000m (5K) long. The course is at Whinfield Recreation Ground, Rugby. The course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths, shale paths and grass. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.

Course Description

The course starts on the grass of the “Main Field”, adjacent to Butlin Road facing the changing room block. The start involves short section on grass by the changing rooms on the left, then joining the shale path for a full lap of the of the main field heading in a clockwise direction towards Clifton Road. Keeping the changing rooms to the right, the route joins the shale path and cuts back across the field towards the start area. Turning left back onto the tarmac path, the route leaves the main field through the gates and joins the connecting path towards the off-road “Wilderness Section”. Turn left at the first entrance to the field (marshalled) and proceed down the hill towards the eastern end of the field. Please note that this section can be muddy after prolonged spells of wet weather. Turn right at the bottom of the hill running around the turnaround tree and make your way up the hill. At the top of the hill exit the field via the gate and re-join the connecting path turning right heading back towards the start. You’re not done yet though… After the chicane by the allotments, take a left turn into the third field and join the shale path heading west towards the entrance to Eastlands Primary School. Follow the signs and directions from marshals around the perimeter of this field, which becomes a grass surface after the entrance to the school. After completing three sides of this field follow signs and marshal directions to exit the field by the connecting path to complete the first lap and re-join the tarmac path of the main field. Follow the course for a second lap until reaching the end of the third field. Instead of exiting the field back to the main field, follow the signs and marshal instructions to the right towards the finish area. Runners with trail shoes might want to use them after prolonged spells of wet weather. Our course can be wet and muddy in some areas.
