Join us for the ultimate outdoor challenge, where you’ll push your limits and conquer the elements, our new adventure triple challenge comprises a 31 mile cycle, a 2 mile paddle and 7.5 mile summit of Helvellyn, England’s third highest peak.  

Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, a casual outdoor lover or perhaps you just want to try something new, the Adventure Triple Challenge offers an unforgettable experience in one of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes.

£49 per person, and £490 fundraising target per person.

Course Details

A 31 mile cycle, a 2 mile paddle and 7.5 mile summit of Helvellyn, England’s third highest peak.  

Bike Phase Part 1: Beginning at Newbiggin and extending down to Glenridding. This leg offers stunning views of the Lake District’s impressive fells provide a dramatic start to the event. (14 miles ,234m ascent)

Boats Phase: Upon reaching Glenridding, teams transition to
the boats phase. Embarking on a 2 mile circular route on the waters
of Ullswater.

Bike Phase Part 2: Following the boats phase, teams face the steepest section of the bike phase as they cycle to Greenside Mines. (2 miles, 160m ascent)

Boots Phase: Upon reaching Greenside Mines, teams transition to the boots phase: a 7.5 mile out-and-back hike with breath taking scenery, summiting Hellvellyn, which at 712m is England’s third-highest peak.

Return Bike Phase Part 3: After completing the hike, teams
return by bike along the scenic shores of Ullswater to the finish line. (15 miles, 308m ascent)

Finish: Once you reach the finish line, you’ll receive a medal for your achievement, alcoholic or soft drink and post event celebratory BBQ.

FAQs

  • How long will the event take?

    The event will start at 7.30am, we anticipate the fastest team may finish at 1.30pm/2pm, average team may finish at 4pm and a slower team may finish at 6pm. 7pm is the cut off time.

  • Do I need to take part in a team?

    Yes, this event is for teams of 2, or 4. If you would like to take part in the event but need a teammate, please let us know, as we will try to pair you up.

  • Is there a minimum age to take part?

    Minimum age for this event is 16. 16–17-year-olds may participate with the agreement of and when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • When do I need to arrive?

    Between 6pm-8pm on Friday 25th April. You will need to register at the event hub – location address tbc. You will be given your event pack, inclusive of event number, safety pins and waterproof transition bag. All kit that is needed for the boat and boot phases needs to be put in the transition bags when registering. These bags will be transported to transition areas ahead of event.

  • What is the bike terrain?

    The route is all on road, apart from the section from Glenridding up to Greenside mines (3km) which is on a broken road that is quite gravelly in places. The best bike for this event would be a gravel bike, hybrid or mountain bike. You can use a road bike, it has been done before, but there are a few bits of lane in this section that would need to be walked.

  • What’s not included in my registration fee?

    Accommodation. Travel to the event location. Bikes, you must supply your own bike and helmet. If you wish to hire a bike this can be organised for £45, the bike will be available at the event hub.

  • How much do I need to raise?

    £490 per person
