Event summary

Get ready for an exhilarating day of running at The Pendine Sands Races, hosted by Every Mile Counts on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in the stunning Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire. This exciting event offers three race distances to suit all levels of runners: a challenging Half Marathon, a spirited 10k, and a fun 5k. Each race is Cup-Free, encouraging participants to bring their own reusable cups, which are available for purchase in the store.

The Half Marathon features a single loop that takes runners the full length of the beach before returning on peaceful lanes, while the 10k and 5k races follow an out-and-back route along the beautiful sands, with a designated turning point marked by a race marshal. The firm sand at Pendine, renowned for its history with land speed records, makes it ideal for running—even barefoot! With the scenic backdrop of the coastline, this event is not just a race; it’s a memorable experience for all participants. Keep an eye out for a pre-race email in early April for important start time information based on the tide tables. Join us for a fantastic day of fitness, community, and fun at The Pendine Sands Races!

Organiser's Description

The Pendine Sands Races include options for 5k, 10k and Half Marathon

All of these races are Cup-Free, so please bring your own re-useable cup (available in our store).

Half Marathon details:

The half marathon event is a single loop, running the full length of the beach and then returning on quiet lanes back to the start

10km and 5km details:

An out and back along the beach, turning at a point where a race marshal holds a flag.

You may think that running on the sand will be extremely difficult, but at Pendine the sands are home to the land speed record attempts made famous by the Blue Bird car. This means that generally the sand underfoot is quite firm and absolutely perfect for running on, especially for barefoot running.

Start times:

Please note – Race starts for 2025 are dependant on the Tide Tables.

A pre-race email will be out first week in April to advise start times.
