The Pendine Sands Races & Ultra
Pendine SandsPendine Sands, Carmarthen, UK
Sun 18th April 2021
£24.65 - £79.68
This unique half marathon event is an out and back along the Pendine Sands. Starting from Barnacles Cafe, first to make up the distance you run down the beach 0.6 miles before turning back to the starting location and then running down the beach again to Ginst point, then looping back to Pendine for the race finish.
The 10k and 5k options are an out and back along the beach, turning at a point where a race marshall holds a flag.
Or take on the Ultra - two laps of our pre-determined course, actual distance of just over 32 miles. (details below)
Do it for charity
Half Marathon Details
There will be a water station at the start, one at 3.0 miles (the turning point for the 10k), another at 5.9 miles (the turning point at the end of the beach), and on returning the same midpoint station at 8.9 miles and finally one at the finish.
Competitors will receive a free reuseable drinks cup to use at the water stations. This is to eliminate the issue of beach littering with plastic cups blowing away. These commemorative bottles can be kept by competitors.

CHECKPOINTS AND WATER STATIONS FOR THE ULTRA EVENT.
A selection of sandwiches, peanuts, Cola, Orange Squash etc will be available at all of the four check-points along the ultra race route.
The Pendine Ultra will benefit from three CP stations and the finish.
Ultra Marathon competitors must go through all check points and it is their sole responsibility to ensure that the check point attendant has recorded their race number; failure to do so at any check point will mean the competitor has failed to complete the race and will be disqualified.
Any competitor found to not follow the pre-determined race route will be disqualified.
If any ultra competitor has to retire for whatever reason they must contact the race organisers immediately, either by advising a checkpoint attendant or by telephoning the emergency number which will be written on the race numbers of each competitor.
The Pendine Ultra Marathon consists of two 16 mile loops. The organisers want to give every competitor the opportunity of completing the race and will, where reasonable practicable, allow generous opening times of CP Stations, providing you maintain a speed of at least 4mph.
