Organiser's Description

The majestic Salcey Forest is a former medieval hunting forest nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside. This magnificent woodland has many miles of ancient wood banks, building remains and ancient trees. The ‘druids’, or veteran oaks, are rare and amazing wildlife habitats, and some of the old oaks are over 600 years old. What better place to hunt down a trail run!

The run takes place on a 5km loop of trails that wind gently through the woods.

If you're taking part in the Canicross, you and your dog must be physically fit to participate. All dogs taking part must be wearing a suitable running harness attached to a bungee line and waist belt. (Dogs will not be accepted into the event with their leash attached to their collar)

There will be a water station on the run route at the end of the first lap. This will be aimed at those doing the two-lap 10km event. There will also be water available at the finish, along with finish-line snacks. All litter must be carried or deposited in the bins at the water station.

The Half Marathon trail run will complete four laps of the 5km loop, including a short out and back section.

This event will be hosted by Salcey Forest, a Forestry England venue. Forestry England manage landscapes for wildlife to thrive, people to enjoy and as a source of sustainable wood. 20% of your ticket fee will go towards maintaining Forestry England visitor facilities including visitor centres, play areas, bike trails and other facilities. By joining this event, you’ll help support our forests and maintain the facilities for you and your family to enjoy.

Really nice event, gorgeous woods. Few issues however. The registration 'tent' was quite far from the car park, so had to rush back and fore within the hour, which didn't really give enough time for me to prep as I wouldve liked to for the race. Water point at the start would've been good? As we have to leave most our stuff in our cars and i had a reusable bottle to to be more green. Maybe include the parking price in the price of the race/have a discount code for us? Stewards were wonderful, bar one male steward in white trainers (how they stayed white i'm not sure) who was pretty miserable every time i passed and really a downer at quite a hard stage of the race. Will look to do another one of ATW trial races, as i loved the mud challenges. The race itself was wonderful, but lots of room for improvement.

Lovely place to run. Trail was muddy in places but that made it more fun. Well organised and staff were motivating and helpful. Would definitely run there again
