Bright Skies Surrey Hills

Denbies Drive, Dorking, RH5 6, United Kingdom

Sun 21st July 2024

Starting at 09:00

4 races

£22.00 - £32.00

Organiser's Description

The Bright Skies is a thrilling day time trail half marathon, 10K, and 5K race (with canix races), as well as a 1K/2K kid’s race for 3-12 year-olds.

Bright Skies was born off the back of the Dark Skies event (part of the Wild Night Run Series), after several people said they loved the route but would like to see some of it!

It follows an undulating yomp through Surrey’s muddy, rolling hills in Dorking. Passing through the Denbies Estate in the Surrey Hills, this is our third event at Denbies and we love it here. This year, entrants will make a contribution towards a local charity.

The track was not well signed. People got lost (including myself) Other than that, great scenery at Denbies wine estate
Hi Jessica, Thanks for your feedbck. The overnight storm blew down some of our signs, which were replaced where possible. Unfortunately Denbies hadn't informed us that the usual finish area had been closed by Denbies hotel, meaning a rerouted finish, which confused some people. Two lessons for next time: We will aim for a hard ground contingency, as there was a limit to where we could put our signs in the hard ground. It's another reason we stress that people should try to upload the GPS as a back up.

Not the best organisation, signs were unclear and different races got confused, could have done with a loudspeaker at the start and more on-time starts. Fun race though

I really enjoyed this - What a lovely trail course! The challenging inclines were offset by the lovely flat sections and downhills, running through leafy countryside and woods. Well signposted throughout but I made a slight error on the route. I quickly double checked the gpx files on my phone that they sent beforehand and quickly retraced my steps. No big deal. Lots of info sent before the run, registration was easy pre race and all the facilities you need at the start/finish area. Really nice atmosphere. Will definitely sign up for the Dark Skies event, to do it at night.
