Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon
The second leg of the 2020 Castle Triathlon Series will take place at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire during the long, bucolic days of June. An open water swim in the beautiful Deer Park Mere Lake, transitioning into the technical cycle which circumnavigates Bickerton Hill – the southern most tip of the Peckforton Hills. The run passes through the stunning Estate grounds, with a sprint finish down the main lawn in front of the Castle.
Individual triathlon distance events from children's races to the middle distance Gauntlet, triathlon relay events from children's races to the Gauntlet, mixed team and family relays, also aquabike, aquathlon and duathlon events at sprint and standard distances.

Cholmondeley Castle is located off the A49 Whitchurch/Tarporley Road, between Warrington and Whitchurch. The entrance to the gardens is off the A49 at the Cholmondeley Arms Pub crossroads postcode SY14 8HN. Railway stations: Chester, Crewe and Whitchurch
Spectators will pay a nominal fee for car parking on the estate and entry in to the grounds: adults.
The Castle is a private residence but the famous Gardens will be open. The estate will be marked where spectators can watch and position themselves around the course.
All competitors are free and children taking part in the 8-15yrs races can bring in 1 adult per competing child for free.
All money collected on the day is being used to help improve the estate for the benefit of the triathlons next year and for future years. It is advisable to bring cash to the event.
All competitors in all races will receive a medal on completion of their race.
Each 1st place winner will also receive a suitably themed trophy, and sponsor’s prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. There is a significant prize pot on offer for the Olympic and Gauntlet race distances.
Each weekend will continue the festival theme with live music, a climbing wall, children’s inflatables, yoga and an array of retail outlets and concessions.
Each Castle Triathlon Series race will offer a variety of locally-sourced foods, with a huge variety of refreshments for competitors and spectators alike.

The historic Castle grounds are open for exploration, with lakeside walks and nature and wildlife spotting just some of the options for spectators to partake in.
The Castle Triathlon Series is offering camping at all UK and Irish castles (but we don’t supply the tent). If you are a camper with a tent or have a campervan or caravan, take this fantastic opportunity to stay within the spectacular grounds of the Castle at which you are competing.
There will be toilet and showering facilities available at all sites.
