Join us for the exhilarating Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon, organized by Castle Race Series, on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in the picturesque Malpas, Cheshire East. Set against the stunning backdrop of Cholmondeley Castle, this event promises a day filled with excitement and athleticism. This year’s triathlon features a variety of race distances to accommodate all levels of competitors, including the half Iron distance 'Gauntlet' option, starter sprint, and junior events. Families can also get involved with exciting relay options, aquathlons, duathlons, and aquabike races. Organiser's Description

Coming less than a week after the UK Summer Solstice, the second leg of the 2019 Castle Triathlon Series will take place at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire during the long, bucolic days of June. An open water swim in the beautiful Deer Park Mere Lake, transitioning into the technical cycle which circumnavigates Bickerton Hill – the southern most tip of the Peckforton Hills. The run passes through the stunning Estate grounds, with a sprint finish down the main lawn in front of the Castle.

The 2019 event again includes an exciting half Iron distance 'Gauntlet' option, 'starter sprint', junior and children's events, also aquathlon, duathlon and aquabike standard and sprint, and adult and family relay events.

How To Get There

Cholmondeley Castle is located off the A49 Whitchurch/Tarporley Road, between Warrington and Whitchurch. The entrance to the gardens is off the A49 at the Cholmondeley Arms Pub crossroads postcode SY14 8HN. Railway stations: Chester, Crewe and Whitchurch. Parking & Spectator Info

Spectators will pay a nominal fee for car parking on the estate and entry in to the grounds: adults – £5, children aged between 6 – 15 years old – £3.

The Castle is a private residence but the famous Gardens will be open. The estate will be marked where spectators can watch and position themselves around the course.

All competitors are free and children taking part in the 8-15yrs races can bring in 1 adult per competing child for free.

All money collected on the day is being used to help improve the estate for the benefit of the triathlons next year and for future years. It is advisable to bring cash to the event.

Camping

The Castle Triathlon Series is offering camping at all UK and Irish castles (but we don’t supply the tent). If you are a camper with a tent or have a Campervan or Caravan take this fantastic opportunity to stay within the spectacular grounds of the Castle at which you are competing.

There will be toilet and showering facilities available at all sites.There is no human waste disposal for caravans or camper vans on any of the Castle camping sites.

Prices for camping at the Castles are as follows:

  • Extra Person – £8.00 per night
  • No charge for under 5’s

Every competitior will receive a medal

Each 1st place winner will also receive a suitably themed trophy, and sponsor’s prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. There is a significant prize pot on offer for the Olympic and Gauntlet race distances.

Festival theme with live music, a climbing wall, children’s inflatables, yoga and an array of retail outlets and concessions.

A variety of locally-sourced foods, with succulent hog roasts and wood fired pizza just two of the highlights, with a huge variety of refreshments for competitors and spectators alike.

All Castle Triathlon Series races will feature a bumper event village offering the latest triathlon wares.

The historic Castle grounds are open for exploration, with lakeside walks and nature and wildlife spotting just some of the options for spectators to partake in.
